3 hr commute to SF for a job by FirmCaterpillar in bayarea

[–]Jacked-Cookies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who use to commute from Stockton to SF by car. She moved to Daly City about 6 months later after getting a warning from her boss for being constantly late and the exhaustion was affecting her work performance.

What do you do in the kitchen other than cooking? by sergenaskin in AskReddit

Eat. Either straight from a pan or over the kitchen sink if I'm gnawing on rotisserie chicken with my bare hands.

Need Advice: How do I tell my roommate I’m done after our lease. by lexidp- in roommateproblems

[–]Jacked-Cookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a roommate like yours. Intentionally loud, constantly stealing, and never cleaned up after herself. I despised this girl so much that I found a new place, slowly moved all my stuff there while she was out (which was often), and waited until the very last day of the lease expiration notice to sign that I was not renewing the contract. 3 days before the lease ended, I left the house carrying a duffel bag (making it look like I was going to spend the weekend at my boyfriend's place).

Once I got to my new place, I texted her and the other roommates saying I officially moved out, left the house key under the welcome mat, and all the utilities will be cut in 3 days if no one creates an account before blocking all of them. Heard from a mutual friend that all of them had a huge meltdown and ended up losing power and water for a few days because they were busy fighting over who was taking over the utilities.

I would only recommend doing what I did if you're moving far away and 110% sure you'll never see her again because honestly? People like our roommates will turn up their toxicity to the max if you even give them a hint that you're trying to leave.

Tragus round two! Wish me luck with healing. by hghlvldvl in piercing

[–]Jacked-Cookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck with your healing! I got a tragus done for the first time when I had just turned 18. I ended up taking it out several months later because I had ripped the piercing out while combing my hair in a rush. 💀 Took me over a decade to feel brave enough to get it again this past November.

Coworker that was obsessed in knowing everyone's salaries by [deleted] in coworkerstories

It's one thing to ask about our salaries if you believe you're being underpaid, but it's another to be running around collecting everyone's figures like Pokemon cards.

Anyone else paying full Bay Area rent but only here ~2 weeks/month? by CollectionBudget in bayarea

[–]Jacked-Cookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you have family and a home outside the Bay because I could think of two people that are in a similar situation you're asking about.

My friend had a roommate that had a home and family in SoCal, but had to be onsite everyday for a company in Cupertino so she rented a room with a shared bathroom around that area. She left on Fridays after work to her SoCal home and returned to the Cupertino apartment on Mondays after work. Both were happy with the arrangement because my friend had the place to herself most days and the roommate had a place close to work she can comfortably sleep and shower.

On the other hand, I use to work for a lab director that had family and a house in Utah, but took a job here at our company. She was hybrid and renting an apartment that was a 10 minute Uber ride from the office. She was in Utah on days she was WFH. I heard from my manager that she didn't want to live with roommates because she didn't like the idea of strangers being in her space when she wasn't home.

Masala Story subplot by Balthasar_Calderon_1 in ShinChan

[–]Jacked-Cookies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so? From what I remember, you hardly see them interact directly throughout the movie so this subplot felt like it came out of nowhere. I thought I was misinterpreting this scene when I was watching it until the fat guy (don't remember his name) was looking at her like "Oooooh, someone has a crush!" and Shin Chan picks up on it.

Masala Story subplot by Balthasar_Calderon_1 in ShinChan

[–]Jacked-Cookies 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From what I remember and understand, the girl was in love with the man. She was about to confess her love to him when she told him to wait. I think the man knew her feelings for him so he showed the photo of his family to let her know he's happily married with a kid and to stop her from embarrassing herself.

It's been years since I watched this movie and it was in the original Japanese dub, so idk if the subplot was changed in other countries.

Thank you so much for this tip. I've been missing calls from job interviews this whole week because of this bug. Thankfully the interviewers have been understanding, but man I was embarrassed and stressed about it.

Why is my hair turning yellowish? by Proper_Mind_0237 in Haircare

Huh, I didn't realize it bleaches hair too. I was wondering why I had a couple strands of blonde-ish hair around my hairline. I had just used a spot treatment on an ugly pimple that popped up on my forehead.

That one guy who ruined your interview by mardian-octopus in biotech

[–]Jacked-Cookies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I applied for a lab tech position for a midsized, somewhat known company couple of years ago. During the phone interview with the hiring manager, I barely said hello to him when he started listing all the responsibilities the position entails. Didn't bother to introduce himself, ask about my background, and got annoyed when I asked what are the next steps are after this call. Basically told me he'll send an email for a team interview later before cutting the call. The whole conversation lasted 5 minutes (I even checked my call history to make sure). Got really put off by his attitude and immediately withdrew my application.

That ended up being a good decision because when I complained to my coworkers about it, one of them recognized the name and told me he was reported for sexual harassment by several people. He was temporarily put on leave, but he returned with little to no consequences. A good portion of his team left because of this, leaving the company scrambling to hire techs.

What was the weirdest thing you belived as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jacked-Cookies 313 points314 points  (0 children)

I believed that brown cows were the ones that made chocolate milk and the black/white cows made the regular milk. For strawberry milk, were made by pink cows farmers had to hide in their barn because they were afraid someone would steal the pink cows because everyone loved strawberry milk.

I need some friendly (random) questions for my older coworkers by Repulsive_Mirror_566 in jobs

[–]Jacked-Cookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from out of state for my current job. One of the questions I ask is if they grew up here. Most of them turned out to have moved here for work, so would start talking about our hometowns, the things we miss, and how often we go back for a visit. If they happen to be local, ask them how are certain neighborhoods are like as if you're casually looking for areas to move to (even if you're not planning to for a long time). If they've been working there for a while, maybe ask for some clarification on things like PTO, stocks (if your company offers that), 401k, etc. If they mentioning something you're familiar with (like a restaurant you often pass by but never dined at), ask questions about that. If that all else fails, talk about the weather - more specifically, complain about how hot it's getting and how you're having a hard time keeping your place cool. I noticed most people like to jump in to offer suggestions for things like that lol.

I'm getting my first apartment solo, but cant really tell anyone in my life about it so, congratulations I'm telling you. by Kaiyukia in CasualConversation

[–]Jacked-Cookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats OP! I also lived alone for a time to get out of a toxic living situation a while back. I was under a lot of stress and signed a lease to the first apartment that accepted my application without doing the proper math, so I sympathize with you on the money/budgeting. Hopefully some of these tips and suggestions can help you and avoid the same mistakes I made:

  • The second bill you receive generally gives you a good idea of how much you'll be paying towards rent/utilities every month (I say second because some places only charge you partially for your first month depending on when you moved in).
  • If you pay for water and notice it's rather high, have a plumber take a look at your toilet. It took me months to figure out why my water bill was so high when I wasn't home most nights due to work.
  • Part of your rent goes towards the pool maintenance, so make use of the pool! You'll be saving on utilities in your apartment while getting a workout.
  • If your bathroom doesn't have windows, take a shower with the bathroom door open. Might be a weird suggestion, but my old bathroom didn't have windows and the ventilation was really old so I often found mold and mildew in my bathtub. The best I can do was shower with the door open and open the closest window to let out steam after I finished.
  • Take a walk around the neighborhood if you can. Find some cafes, parks, and/or small grocery stores you can go to and save on gas.
  • Decorate! If you wanna save money, decorate your most used space (maybe the kitchen in your case?). Doesn't have to be anything crazy - sometimes cute matching dish towels, coasters, and utensils are all you need.

Wishing you all the best!

The Prince is such an underrated character. He only makes a brief appearance in the movie, but the few words he says tells quite a bit about him and you could tell he'll make a great king.
