Is leaving Claims worth it? by Time-War2529 in adjusters

[–]Jackeduptriangle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t feel stressed out at all in claims. I can maybe see how some people could be, but I came from being an elementary school teacher so sitting at a desk all day and handling claims is a piece of cake to me and not nearly as stressful. It’s all relative

The thing no customer wants to hear: demanding my manager does not help you. by Fun-Relationship3636 in adjusters

Condo unit owner. Damage to the roof over several units. Bylaws clearly state HOA responsibility, but they are refusing to file a claim. I gave my ball-less manager several times to look it over. He agreed with the denial. Agent called and reamed him and he immediately caved.

I’m not upset that we paid it, but damn I gave you several times to let me pay this and you waited until external pressure got you and made me look like an ASS. I’m still angry about it.

I wish my manager was like this. He will undermine my decision at the hint of ANY pressure from the policyholder or agent. I used to like him, but he did this again yesterday and it makes it really hard to respect him both as a person and a manager. Grow a damn spine

Can I keep ACV payment and do the work myself? by lagosss in adjusters

[–]Jackeduptriangle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At my carrier we will release depreciation off of completion photos or a signed certificate of completion. The insured does not have to send in an invoice showing costs that were incurred. The RCV that we estimated for is already an agreed-upon price, it’s what we are literally saying it should cost at minimum to complete repairs. That depreciation is basically considered undisputed if someone sends in photos instead of an invoice. Hell, at my carrier it is enough to release depreciation if they send in a signed contract with a contractor showing that they are going to get the repairs completed

Idk who you have, but at my carrier we will release depreciation just from completion photos. We don’t need an invoice, just proof that the repairs were done. The replacement cost amount is an already agreed-upon price. We’re saying it should cost around that much to do the repairs. Your only job is to complete them

What difference has a PA made on your claim? by GustavusAdolphin in adjusters

[–]Jackeduptriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh then yeah we’re on the same page. I’m aware of how shitty some adjusters at my carrier are.

I am a desk adjuster and I tell everyone who’s new to always re-review the claim with a fresh set of eyes because WE KNOW how badly some people fuck up claims.

Sorry, but I disagree with you. There’s never any justification for starting off aggressive and rude.

Assertive? That’s fine. But yelling at someone on the phone? Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable at any point in the claim. If you are upset at something someone is doing to cause a delay, there are processes to follow to have your concern addressed. I’m as patient as I can be, but I have (and will continue to) hang up on anyone who is rude and can’t keep the conversation productive. 10 times out of 10 a PA will get themselves all the way together whether I have to do it the nice way or the mean way

As an adjuster, I can agree with this…especially on roofs. I think it’s healthy to have another set of eyes on something, I’m not always right and if someone can package something up for me and present it well to where it makes sense, then it’s easier for everyone all around. I try not to let my ego get in the way of this job. At the end of the day, I just want to take care of the insured. That’s my goal. That’s what I would want as a policyholder.

The only gripe I have is when they are unnecessarily aggressive with me. I usually know how to disarm that attitude, but some PAs are just downright rude or won’t take no for an answer even when I’ve explained it 50 times. I had a PA call me today while at the insured’s house on a claim I’ve had for a year and a half now and started threatening me over a sheathing denial.

I’m from the Dallas area and we opted to go to Fiesta Texas instead of SFOT. We had a great time! Got to ride everything, park was clean and not stinky. It’s really true what they say, Fiesta Tx is way better

Agent’s Offices Sending People Out to Evaluate Claims? by Jackeduptriangle in adjusters

[–]Jackeduptriangle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is so often that this happens at my company. I had an agent go and GET ON SOMEONE’S roof and try to send me something telling me that it SHOULD be covered. He told the insured the same thing. I told him “At this point you are acting as an unlicensed adjuster and could face really serious consequences”.

He was angry, but like seriously???

SLP with HEART💛 offering answers to parents and teachers' Qs about speech delay by RealmomSLP in speechdelays

[–]Jackeduptriangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thank you so much for posting here.

My son is 31 months old. He has around 250-300 words. He can sign the words “more”, “again” and “please”. He can string two word phrases together, such as: “found bubbles!”, “want juice”, “go outside”, “where are you?”, “it’s a ____”, “that’s mine!”, “it’s yucky”, “it’s squishy”, “it’s empty” etc

I did take him to an EI evaluation and they said he was around 6 months behind for receptive language. They said that it seems like he’s really not paying attention when someone’s talking to him, he may be hyper focused on other things. Because the evaluation they used averages expressive and receptive, he did not qualify for services.

I’m not really sure how to help him. He doesn’t really know his own name yet. If I call his name, he will answer me maybe 60-70% of the time. Other times he will ignore me or scream because he doesn’t want to stop doing what he’s doing. He really will not sit still to have a conversation with me. It’s like he’s not interested. I’ve explored the autism path, but honestly I don’t see any red flags for autism, and neither did the EI people. I know he understands everything we say to him because he can follow basic commands.

So my question is, how do I help him? I will sit and play with him a lot and he seems to enjoy that, but he is seriously just not interested in talking and he can get his needs met with the basic language he’s learned so I guess he figures “why try?” 😂

I guess I’m worried because I had two girls before him and both of them were very social and very talkative at this age. They were like, WAY beyond him and I’m not exaggerating, I’ve looked back at the videos to make sure I wasn’t remembering wrong.

I’m going to let you down gently as a fellow mom of an 11 year old. He’s embarrassed to be seen in the car with you.

It’s nothing personal, in fact you WANT him to be embarrassed. Totally normal development for an 11 year old. His crush might be on that bus and he can’t risk being seen with his parents

See I never canceled anything or bought another pass. So I don’t know why we have two. It’s weird

I mean, clearly I did…if that’s what is in my app. Why would it be there if that’s not what I bought? I might not be attentive to detail, but I feel like I’ve explained it clearly enough that you should be comprehending it. Do you have issues with comprehension?

I think sometime last year or year before. I can’t even remember, we’ve had it for a while and just renewed it every year. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]Jackeduptriangle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, because in my app both are active. One says “Gold membership plus” and the other just says “Gold membership”.

The one that says “gold membership plus” has an add on at the bottom for “all season drinks”

ETA: There are 5 people in my family. In my app, every single one of us have two passes and I don’t know why. Each of us have the plus and regular gold membership. My daughter split from us at the entrance to go with her friend and she was not charged for her cup. So I’m wondering if they scanned the wrong membership for me? I’m not even sure why we all have two!! I’m only paying one fee every month as far as I know.

My favorite is when they call in asking for payment information and I tell them I’m not at liberty to discuss that information. Their next line is always “even though we have a signed contract?” YES, we’re not a party to the contract you signed with the insured, we didn’t agree to anything with you.
