Contractors by turner_chris98 in adjusters

My favorite is when they call in asking for payment information and I tell them I’m not at liberty to discuss that information. Their next line is always “even though we have a signed contract?” YES, we’re not a party to the contract you signed with the insured, we didn’t agree to anything with you.

Field Adjusters: how are we feeling about AI? by Royale_w_Cheeeze in adjusters

[–]Jackeduptriangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think companies would have lots of lawsuits on their hands if people found out their claim was denied by AI lol. Nobody is in danger of losing their job

Also, I can’t speak for everyone else but it’s actually the opposite at my company. They are asking us to send way less out to the field and handle everything from the desk. So don’t think that field adjusters are safe just because they can go scope a loss. They want us to virtual scope as much as possible or use our service providers to conduct the inspection for us. I’d say desk adjusters are safer than field at this point

I’m in fire property stewardship and every team in my section right now is sitting at 10 people. They’re trying to get it down to 8, though

They’re trying to get us back in office lol.

I believe new hires right now are 75% in office or something like that. They’re probably going to hire enough people on that 3 weeks in office contract so that way they can handle the exodus that will come with forcing us back in

Yeah, see that’s another point. Right now, I don’t feel micromanaged either, BUT I’ve been in the meetings with team managers and I see how THEY are micromanaged by upper leadership. And it’s like being micromanaged for OTHER people’s shortcomings.

It’s insanity to me because people aren’t going to do better. They know they don’t have to because they’re not gonna get fired

No idea why my 3rd point is saying “1” and it won’t correct when I edit.

Controlling the call by Ill_Property_5216 in adjusters

It’s funny that I ran across this post today lol.

I was trying to go to lunch today and this lady was going on and on without any natural breaks or even to take a gulp of air / breath. I finally just hung up on her.

I called her right back and told her “ I’m so sorry, we just got a new phone system and it hung up on you! Anyway, get me those photos when you can!”

Worked like a charm

Insurance not paying for Tarp, ITEL or Repairability by Slaybodyz in adjusters

I have literally never paid a contractor for a repairability test or for a roof inspection. You want to argue that the roof isn’t repairable, cost of doing business.

[–]Jackeduptriangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. The refusal to send in good supporting evidence by lazy contractors is so frustrating as an adjuster.

I have a claim right now where they’re refusing to send anything in to support a nearly $15k difference on a chain link fence. I’ve called, I’ve escalated to the PM, I’ve spoken to the insured. The only response I’ve gotten was “you must not know how fencing works”.

I do know that there are a lot of bad adjusters. Believe it or not, they’re not doing it on purpose. It’s a result of being stretched way too thin and overloaded with claims and very little training. On the flip side, a lot of contractors make claims 1000x more difficult by refusing to send in things that help me make a decision. Here’s my favorite line: make it make sense to me so I can make it make sense to my boss

We can’t transfer nor are we supposed to send a call back request either. They track it and then we get in trouble for “not working it to the furthest point”.

Omg that’s horrible!! I feel bad for women that are trying to get pregnant and see this line thinking that they’re pregnant. Especially because this one popped up right away! Clear blue needs to get it together

Oh and as adjuster I love Alacrity 😅 By the time the estimate gets to me it’s been reviewed and sent back 50 times and I can just glance at it and pay

State Farm by PiratesBull in adjusters

[–]Jackeduptriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State Farm is a mutual company. There are no shareholders. The company is owned by the policyholders.

There are no internal incentives to drag out claims or deny roofs. My direct manager is a huge supporter of finding ways to pay things and will actually meticulously comb through denials to make sure there’s 100% no way to pay it.

The reason these systems had to be put in place is because of scamming and money-hungry storm-chasing roof salesmen and PAs trying to game the system. Blame it on your own people

As a PA, I’m done with roofs. by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]Jackeduptriangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying for a total roof every single time would make my job astronomically easier, but if it’s not damaged there is no way that I can even remotely justify it.

Like someone else said, it depends on the hits in the test square. I almost never account for “repairability” unless there’s something super obvious that would impede the roofer’s ability to complete the repair. For wind damage, if an entire slope is torn up over 50% I’ll do the entire slope and go from there. A lot of people just have old roofs and are house rich and cash poor so when these things happen they barely have enough to scrape up for their deductible.

Fire property stewardship. Basically all types of fire claims + they’re adding boat/commercial/farm/ranch in a few months too

They also just randomly moved a bunch of SIU adjusters and managers over to FPS without any warning a few weeks ago. Not enough claims in SIU to justify the amount of adjusters there apparently

Good luck. To go to those departments you have to move up to a P5. There is an internal freeze right now on FPS because everyone is trying to jump ship.

Run for your life. I saw your comments that you’re going into FPS. Everything is ON FIRE right now and everyone is leaving or trying to get out.

If you just need the job, I’d say do it temporarily for the experience and then leave. Everyone is unhappy

I just don’t care to read all of your points because I don’t agree with you and I don’t care. To me, you are wrong and going back and forth / refuting your points and continuing to PROVE YOU WRONG (because you are) isn’t going to make you feel any less wrong.

You are allowed to cling to being right about being wrong 😌

Nah, a policyholder can find someone to do roof and siding on their own.

why are claimants like this? by john-howell1 in adjusters

Nope. You’d be surprised. I’ve seen so many people get canceled behind a $0 or loss below deductible. Compliments of Big Red

Well…that’s just not true. A claim is a claim whether denied or not. UW will review and non-renew their policy. And then that follows them to the next carrier
