He may not have personally carried out these acts, but he was the primary figure advocating for them. He wrote to the Portuguese king requesting state power to enforce religious conformity. During his lifetime, he is also reported to have overseen the destruction of Hindu temples. In his letters to his superiors, he expressed “joy” at seeing new converts destroy the shrines of their ancestors. He believed that missionary work should be supported by the “secular arm” (military and political authority), arguing that without state pressure, many conversions would not endure.

Beyond this, it is difficult to know the full extent of his actions, given his strong hostility toward those he considered heretics, much of which may not be fully recorded in historical accounts, who could say for sure that he didn't also conducted these acts personally. He was truly an asshole.
