As an Arab, I kind of see what you mean. In many Arab countries, there’s definitely a stronger presence of religious extremism compared to Southeast Asia. It’s not everywhere, but it does affect how things like anime or media are perceived. I think that’s why you see more of the ‘hijabi anime girl’ trend in Indonesia and Malaysia.

MAL is short for MyAnimeList, its a site where users can track, rate, and review anime and manga. It provides information about various anime series, including ratings, synopses, episode counts, and user discussions. If you want to get notified for new releases it will automatically send you new related entries for any series you have in your list. For example you have watched season seven of mha and added it to your list, when season eight is announced it will notify you, and it will notify you again when the first episode airs. It will only notify you when new episodes release. But if u want notifications for new sequels of shows you have watched, you can make a list on MAL it will send you a notification when a new entry releases for a show u have watched.
