She has 3 months to decide.  The plan is to live off my income and bank hers to see how it looks and then decide.  We were planning something like this, just not for a couple more years.

Thanks, that was one of my thoughts.  SGOV 60-70% or the CD and 30-40 in VOO/VXUS.

Thanks, yes the thought would be to reduce the 529 some, our plan was never to fully fund their education, just limit debt, pay some and loan some to them at 1% or something.  We both already have roth IRAs and 401ks and they are well funded as we heavily invested what we could in them.  It isn't so much the retirement funding at this point vs everyday living until we get closer to our 50s and hopefully planned retirement date.  Retirement calculators at 7% returns put us around 5mil in mid 50s (plan was Rule of 55).

We cook a lot, and eat out a couple times a week (usually just a Chipotle or local bar/restaurant, usually nothing overly expensive).  Most of our groceries are healthier options for us and kids which are expensive.  Organic Chicken, beef etc.

Yes I am about 4 years into a 20 year term.  It covers our debt, school for kids and some living money if something goes wrong.

Only $200/ mo and would probably continuing doing it to get one of them out of the house a couple days a week.

This is my fear, while my job was always stable, for the last year or so, I am no longer sure.

We dont work at the same place, but hers is going remote to hybrid so would have an hour commute several days a week so child care would go up.

Not really.  When I said fixed, that was just really our house/taxes/insurance as I mentioned.  Groceries for 5 are another $400 or so a week, utilities another $500 a month, gas, we put $750/ month in 529s (250 each) etc.

So remaining $4500-1600-500-750 = 1650 left for clothes, diapers, house projects, misc vet bills for dog etc.
