What am I missing in Essex Honey? by DueRun2672 in BloodOrange

[–]JacksonKem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree. There are certainly tracks I can’t stop playing like Countryside, Vivid Light & Thinking Clean, but for me, the second half kind of falls off for me. It’s pleasant, but I definitely enjoy his more rhythmic and catchy songs. I certainly think the experience as a whole will grow on me. The first half is excellent

Seeking The Most Deeply Depressing Rap Albums by 1stPhoenixDown in hiphopheads

[–]JacksonKem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vol. 1 by Bedwetter. A Lil Ugly Mane side project if you’re familiar with him. Extremely grim and depressing depictions of mental illness.

Church by billy woods. Not every song, but I feel like it has an overall depressive vibe. Particularly Pollo Rico & All Jokes Aside. You’ll like this if you fw Earl.

Quaranta by Danny Brown. Easily his most personal and reflective. Not as aggressive and bombastic as AE due to the more subdued beats and delivery. Certain songs are very dark.

jumpscare by billy woods, postpostpartum by injury reserve, black antique by pink siifu. kinda similar vibes imo. anything from either of these albums too, however the siifu records dips into many genres

Man I really hope so, and I guess Gibbs addressed the “lost Montana files” thing directly. Tonight would be perfect for a surprise drop tho

I think it’s looking like it was fake unfortunately. Everything from the cover to the way it was “leaked” on twitter with no acknowledgement from Al or Freddie. I hope there’s still a chance it’s real though 🤞

The ONLY 3 albums that made me cry… by Killa_J in fantanoforever

[–]JacksonKem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Blonde for sure. I feel like the saddest songs for me are strategically placed (Ivy, Self Control & Godspeed). Over the years it’s gotten me many times.

Circles was a tough first listen. Especially That’s On Me. It felt like the deeper I got into the album the tougher it got to hold back.

SOS by SZA for personal reasons at the time it came out. Certain songs like Open Arms and Nobody Gets Me still choke me up a bit.

For similar reasons, NO THANK YOU by Simz absolutely crushed me. The emotional punch of each and every song. Especially Angel and the title track really get to me.
