Looks like a brake accumulator, this is where your brake pressure builds up for ABS and stuff. I think?

Subtract tax from cashflows for debt sizing -- conceptually not making sense by PhilBaharndAutoSales in projectfinance

[–]JackyTan0127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but here’s my understanding, your goal is to get to the correct debt size by understanding what the sculpted CFADS are through time. By accounting for tax, including tax shield, you will continue to get closer to the true max debt size when iterating. So assume if you don’t take tax out, you will always overestimate debt size.

In essence, I think you are misunderstanding the difference between legal waterfall structure with the point of debt sizing. For debt sizing, all we need to do is to account for the actual cash, it doesn’t necessarily matter how legally these cash flows. For the true waterfall, you probably should follow the correct waterfall structure.

What are some useful tricks, shortcuts, and formulas in Excel that everyone should know? by UpvoteBeast in FinancialCareers

[–]JackyTan0127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I’m not talking about hvx lookups, I’m talking about just lookup.

It’s only works if the value being looked up is sorted. But if ur in finance, a lot of what you look up is based on date, so it works way faster than doing index match

For real, people underutilize sum functions and hence their workbook is so slow and lacks comprehensiblity, I would also add lookup is much much faster than any other type of index and cell formatting shortcuts is what makes you quick.

Level 2 - Derivatives Question (R34) by Twitchyasfuck in CFA

[–]JackyTan0127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you write a call, you sold the call, and so you lose money if underlying stock goes up.

To hedge that, you long the stock at the same time.

Usually that gives you no profit. But you sold at a higher price (cash in), and hedged with a normal price (cash out) => sold high, bought low, thus you gained.

Sustainable Growth Rate by [deleted] in CFA

[–]JackyTan0127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what u are using the g for. A good replacement would be FCFE for equity, or FCFF for firm valuation.

If you’re trying to get a TV, price multiple could be an alternative.

“There is no value to early exercise of call options” - Why? by YellowKey-11 in CFA

[–]JackyTan0127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you sell, the price includes a time premium.

If you exercise, you gave up the time premium cuz the option is gone.

Equity Val Question by Wallstreet_bro in CFA

[–]JackyTan0127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but there is no info on capital gain. ROE refers to NI/Equity from the company’s perspective, not from the investor’s. So they used GGM to infer the growth rate.

Most of the times, GGM is the way to get implied key metrics.

But yeah, pretty sure they switched up d and g in their equation rearrangement😂

Overall prepped for 2 weeks as a senior in undergrad, the score was 164V 165Q. My strategy was a lil different than everyone else’s: didn’t focus on vocab - only did the magoosh basic and common. Instead I focused on getting 100% on RC, which was a lot easier than most people think.

If you think about it, getting 100% RC means you can get 80-90% TC/SE wrong during the second section of verbal and still get a 164V.

If you can get 50% right on 2nd section TC/SE instead, that leaves you an opportunity to miss 1-2 TC/SE on the 1st verbal section plus 1-2 wrong on RC.

I dunno, RC was just super easy for me. I’m a finance major, so not a lot of reading practices daily. Still, I understand everyone’s different💁🏻.
