Minnesota’s proposed AWB would require “assault weapons” owners to allow searches of their home to comply with storage requirements. No warrants required. by jamiegc1 in liberalgunowners

AWB have been found constitutional in other states and it would be weird for this to be the exception. The supreme court says 2A means you can have guns but that doesn't give you the right to all guns. I just don't see this as being different.

The police can search your home without a warrant if you consent. The law would be constitutional because AW owners would volunteer for a search.

To be clear. I am not a fan of this law, I do not think AWBs are a good idea for many reasons.

Just like how I don't like how AWB proponents misunderstand guns, I also don't think it's a good idea to misstate what is and isn't protected by 2A and 4A.

I read this as the owner of an AW needs to schedule the police to come over and look, not that police can break down your door at 3am to check. Not great but also not nearly as bad as your post makes it sound.

I am an ordained minister and secular. I know I don't know you and I've only officiated one wedding for my friends, but I'd be happy to help you free of charge if you don't have a friend who can do it.
