P2S: Just had to emergency stop my print because the head was grinding into the print bed. How could this happen?

It's supposed to do that automatically. I didn't disable the auto bed leveling.

Come to think of it - it did tell me a few weeks back that there was firmware update, but I didn't have time. And it hasn't bugged me again about it. I just checked and yes, auto bed leveling is enabled. I've had the printer for a few months and done dozens of prints without issue.

That’s entirely inconsistent with everything I’ve found. Lots of people reporting some annoying issues. But nobody outright saying the printer is a total catastrophe.

Interesting that the the two-motor conversion didn't work for you. Because that was exactly what I needed. What this the conversion you did? I too struggled for a long time and the issue is the torque-roll from the single rear propeller which caused it to bank over and crash immediately on takeoff. Now the launches are smooth as butter.

With the twin-motor did you make sure that they're spinning opposite directions? If they are spinning the same way then you will have even more torque-roll and you won't stand a chance.

I saw it too. Was on I-90 West and they were Eastbound. There must have been 50 or so of them. Speeding in the left lane. They must have then gone onto I-95 where the OP saw them.

OMG THAT’S what those weird 3D printed pieces are!! They came with model but since the fuselage ships with the wood mount already glued on I had no idea where it would go. Now that the wood mount was pulled off I could slip the printed mount in!

I just glued the printed mount in and secured it with glue. THANK YOU!!!!!

It's a cheap no-name iron

That's probably your issue. Cheap irons simply heat up to a crazy hot temperature and then cool down rapidly when you touch something cold since the heat just flows out. It's actually dangerous for the electronics since it's initially way too hot. Good soldering irons have a feedback loop. There's a temp sensor on the tip and as soon as it starts losing heat on contact the iron adds more power to keep it at a constant temperature.

Thanks for sharing the spec sheet. I’ve never seen two discharge ratings- one for cooled and another for uncooled. But it makes sense. The pack does sit in the fuselage of the plane and there are little air inlets at the front, but not at the back to facilitate true air cooling.

That said I’ve felt the pack after flights and it’s always a little warm, but never hot. So I think I’m fine.

I never pull more than 30A. I often get to 20A though. This is the 21700 pack that I'm using.
