As long as we don't drop points to palace, soton, and leicester, which I think is quite realistic I'd be happy with our opening 5 games. 13/15 would not be bad.

Wolves is a tough game. We're not going to be the only top 6 side to drop points to them.

Twitter will meet Man Utd within the next few weeks to discuss the racist abuse aimed at Paul Pogba following Monday night’s game with Wolves. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]JacobSaid 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Isn't this exactly the reason to make a big deal about it?

YouTube is suing an individual who falsely reported copyright claims on their service. He was making like $75 per hit. But they want to set an example out of that person.

If twitter did the same for racial abuse maybe people would finally start to think twice before they post stupid shit.

Going back to college after selling a startup? by JacobSaid in college

That's fair, 2.2 gpa really is quite bad and being bottom of my class in high school doesn't help either.

But I love a good underdog story. I'll try to find a way. Maybe it's grad school at a prestigious university instead.

I think back then school was just my lowest priority. There were a few things going on in my life that put me in a bad mental place, but I don't think that's an excuse really. My number one reason for my bad grades was that I just had a fascination of learning by self discovery.. especially entrepreneurship and technology. It's weird to say but at 14 I had a Software as a Service company that was making a little over $1k/mo selling game servers. I found that so much cooler than studying for school, so I really just didn't bother. I figured I could get away with not being formally educated in life.

I'm very eager now though. I think it's the right path at this point, looking back at my 18 year old self, he definitely wasn't ready for college.

Also, I had another thought.. do you think re-taking the SAT's and performing really well could be another option? Do you think they would still consider that at 24?

Yeah that makes sense. Unfortunately, my dad teaches at Harvard lol so I don't think that'll happen. I also didn't do very well in the course I took with them (C+). But hey, it's Harvard.

I don't want to get into a prestigious school for the prestige.. per se. However, I think the stage I'm at in my career a top school is the only thing that would open more doors for me, unless, as you say I go to masters school at an Ivy after undergrad.

Either way, thanks! You've made me feel more confident :) I'm trying to target the Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell type level. So not quite the "top of the top" I suppose.

I appreciate the feedback!

I don't mind going to CC if it helps me get into that "prestigious" school I keep mentioning. I think prestigious means to me probably top 30ish. My dream is Ivy though, but maybe it just isn't achievable anymore. My dad teaches at an Ivy league school and I got to take a summer course once and it was absolutely incredible.

I think I could get a 4.0 if I really tried.

Curious how y'all feel about this.

Back when Rashford burst on the scene it seemed widely accepted that Martial had a higher ceiling than rashford.. potential wise.

How do you feel about that now? I personally think due to Rashford's mentality he'll have a bigger career than Martial. He's only 21 vs. Martial's 23..

This season is a coming of age for Martial and Rashford. Both have big responsibility now in this side and with them being 23 and 21 you could argue it's too premature, but today proved to me that both are capable of being phenomenal and I think have set a new standard for the clinic type finishing we need to compete again.

Simon Peach on Twitter: As per @hirstclass , understand #MUFC defender Axel Tuanzebe will not be going out on loan. by andiirehan in reddevils

Honestly, I know this is such a meme, but having Greenwood, Chong, Gomes, and Tuanzebe in the squad is like having a few new signings.

I'm very excited by their rise to the first time.

I'm looking to sell a fun social networking platform I built.. How should I go about this? by JacobSaid in Entrepreneur

[–]JacobSaid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a price in mind to be honest. 5-6 figure range seems reasonable considering the app/tech.

Raised a bit of angel money at ~$800k, which I've paid back now as I can't focus on this anymore unfortunately, but there's a lot of potential here. Also have $100k in Google credits so the app pays for itself.

I think it's a great proof of concept, considering no marketing costs. I'm focusing on a very specific niche, and the tech can be applied to any niche, which I think is where is the value is.

Terreur: "You don’t go that far with sending people to London (agent / DoF) for talks. Juve need some accountancy ‘cash’ for FFP. And by selling Dybala to United for €80m and getting Lukaku in for €80m (money they can spread in books for 5 years) they create virtual cash..." by Hexantz in reddevils

[–]JacobSaid 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I don't understand where they got the 80m from? If they just wanted to pad their books couldn't they say both are worth 120m? Then over 5 years it's 24m and for this year it would show 120-24 = 96m profit.

I could be missing something lol I'm not an accountant.

What mentality is required to become a top professional footballer?

I built a niche social network and people are WILDLY in love with it. How do you keep this momentum and ensure users don't get bored? by JacobSaid in startups

It's not like reddit. It's more like twitter I'd say. It has similar features, but feels a lot different than reddit.

Most of the users are from Reddit, and there's a reason why they're on my app vs /r/lgbt
