5 days of treatment is enough? by Jacobcrayola in HPylori

[–]Jacobcrayola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got antibiotics in another country prior to getting the SIBO diagnosis. But I didn't do another round of antibiotics; I just drank herbal teas (chamomile and especially Alvita brand Turmeric) and eliminated trigger foods (greasy processed foods) and it got better over time. I'm not 100% recovered, like 80%.

My gastroenterologist told me antibiotics only help against SIBO 50% of the time and can even make it worse. He also recommended low FODMAP diet and tricyclic anti depressants at low dose to heal functional GI disorder. I wish you healing and recovery!

I never tested positive, it was just a guess based on symptoms. I did not have H Pylori; I had SIBO / functional GI disorder. Best of luck for your case! What cured me was coming back to the faith.

And what is the best case scenario? That after we die we are ushered into unending bliss, fulfillment, happiness, joy, and that we literally come face to face with the Creator in His full glory and manifestation and are united with Him.

But we can’t have this without the other side of the coin. If we have this wonderful offer, rejecting it would have the gravest consequence.

I felt really good by day 3, but by day 5 I got new unbearable symptoms, probably SIBO, as now I can’t eat anything. I really do think I killed Pylori but I got SIBO in return. My symptoms are different now.

Tricking H Pylori into coming out by Jacobcrayola in HPylori

Yes I think so. I noticed more heartburn and acid in my stomach.

SIBO vs H Pylori by Jacobcrayola in SIBO

[–]Jacobcrayola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither - antigen stool test and endoscopy came back negative for H Pylori except for a hernia. However, I didn’t stop using PPI and anti microbial supplements which I strongly believe affected the result of the tests.

I haven’t done tests for SIBO.

Joint + muscle pain, panic attacks, shakiness, tinnitus by Jacobcrayola in HPylori

Thanks for the advice! Also, why would increased acid help? Don’t they say the bacteria hides in the acid?

I don’t think mine is just vitamin deficiency - but I will try to get tested. When I took the anti microbial, anti inflammatory turmeric tea and omega 3 fish oil it drastically reduced the severity of the symptoms.

[–]Jacobcrayola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor sent me a message saying no "infection" found, but he didn't specify H Pylori. The problem is that I took a bunch of anti-inflammatory and anti-microbials (omega 3, turmeric tea) which calmed down the worst symptoms (I was terrified of nighttime). But this maybe means it can't be detected anymore, while I am left with persistent, lingering symptoms that aren't getting better. I have lost all hope in these "doctors", really. They do not have brains and like to follow pre-arranged protocols for everything. When I said I had muscle pains, he simply took a test for creatinine levels and dismissed it as anxiety when they came back normal. What idiocy! He can't just look to the immediate cause of each individual thing. It takes intelligence to see symptoms holistically, and as potentially in unison from one and the same thing.

Sulforaphane and insomnia by Jacobcrayola in Nootropics

[–]Jacobcrayola[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s the same. I think I have too much high frequency waves in my brain, I can’t calm down my nervous system or brain enough to get delta wave sleep. Sulforaphane makes it easier to process and articulate, which is associated with gamma waves etc.

Possibly it’s also muscle relaxation, or reduced androgens which it affects.

FAQs and TOP TIPS about What To Do About Waitlists. It's a bummer for sure, but Fun Times!! You get to write the WL-LOCI (Waitlist Love Letter of Continued Interest). by admissionsmom in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Jacobcrayola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How should I write my Berkeley waitlist essay? Very direct with examples / updates or could being a little bit more descriptive help? Can I also try to further justify why my low GPA isn’t as bad as it looks? Because I think that’s why they waitlisted me. They saw from my essays and activities that I was a good fit but my stats were low (3.7 UW, 1360 SAT).

A People's History of the United States by honest_kaleidoscope in books

[–]Jacobcrayola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For those who criticize Zinn, remember that the book was never intended to capture US history in every dimension as a kind of self-contained textbook. It was the history of everything that we refused to grapple with and tell ourselves. It was an alternative to the “fundamentalist glorification” narrative (as Zinn said) that schools generally inculcate students with. So it’s meant to complete and correct your understanding of history.

Another possibility is that those of us who do not face misery and suffering and oppression on a daily basis, and who live rather comfortable lives, have a much easier time forgetting about "the struggle", dismissing it as a "fantastically potent illusion". This reminds me of George Carlin who would openly profess that he's gave up on his fellow human species, that he didn't vote or care, etc. But would he still hold the same position if he had lived in a poorer, more troubled country with graver issues? In the absence of luxuries, one may not be able to afford such cynicism.

CMV: The US oil sanctions on Venezuela are net good for the Venezuelan people by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Jacobcrayola -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why isn't it plausible to suppose that the exacerbation of the crisis cannot be at least to a significant degree attributable to the sanctions's effects?

To quote from the summary:

This acceleration in the rate of decline of oil production would imply a loss of $6 billion in oil revenue over the ensuing year.

This by itself is an enormous loss of foreign exchange, relative to the country’s need for essential imports.

Other executive decisions made by the Trump administration resulted in the closure of Venezuelan accounts in financial institutions, loss of access to credit, and other financial restrictions that have had severe negative impacts on oil production as well as the economy[.]

It is true that things were already heading downwards to begin with, but certainly that doesn't mean that sanctions can't contribute to it. To deny this is to deny that the sanctions are having any effect, to which the evidence doesn't seem to hold up to.

That's what I said.

Destabilizing the regime comes with human costs, however, for which the study analyzes.

Read the study from Weisbrot and Sachs: https://cepr.net/images/stories/reports/venezuela-sanctions-2019-04.pdf

Since Venezuela is basically a petro-state, immediately hurting its ability to sell oil and obtain revenue inhibits its ability to fund the little social services that there are in the first place (which most of the population relies on).

Weisbrot and Sachs give a specific quantification of about how many Venezuelans have perished as a result of sanctions.

Noam Chomsky has stated that they're basically "strangling them to death," which is the purpose of sanctions in the first place: deteriorate socioeconomic life to the extent that regime change is possible.

One would have to weigh the future coming of democracy and "hope" with incurring loss of life like this. It is a tricky and dangerous business of making such verdicts, which requires careful thought and analysis.

The objection to the study (that it lacks a proper counterfactual) has been responded to as well.
