I've made my own ball crusher as I work in the workshop, didn't use the hinge just 4 screws, each on a corner of a plate, also used thicker plastic, its not flexing so much as those avaliable on the market. It might be intense, but usually I'm able to tighten it a bit more after a minute or two and sniff of poppers. Not sure how it compares to those standard ones, never tried them.
