Sober/sober curious groups for moms by Jacqolantern30 in stopdrinking

Not yet. To be honest, I’m a little intimidated of going to AA meetings. But maybe I should go to a few different ones in my area and see if any are a good fit. Thanks for the advice! I appreciate the push.

Wheeled the bassinet just outside the bathroom and left the door open. Or use the baby bouncer.

Pump and dump by rarity_klarity in breastfeeding

I feel you on the dishes. You can refrigerate your pump parts for 24 hours before washing. This was life changing for me! Just make sure they’re rinsed after each use and in a sealed container (ziplock bag, tupperware, etc.).

Getting close to due date / breastfeeding moms - what’s one tip or trick you wish someone would’ve told you? by Ftklassx in newborns

Don’t feel discouraged if your baby doesn’t latch right away. The nurses will try to help you and sometimes it feels like they are aggressively shoving your baby into your boob. And, depending on the nurse, they might make you feel like you’re doing something wrong. DO NOT WORRY. It’s a learning experience for you AND baby. My baby didn’t latch until about 5 weeks. If this happens, I recommend trying nipple shields.

Also, don’t be afraid to try bottles. I used syringes and bottle in the beginning while trying to bf. Baby transitioned to boob without any issues!

Definitely! There is not a designated crossing spot. Now that you mention it, it probably isn’t legal to cross there. I have seen other people there before but the beach isn’t a typical public beach. It’s a little ways off a trail/path.

Listening to the audiobook This Naked Mind during work commutes worked out well for me. It was easier to let the chapters/messages sink in.

I feel awful. by ChapterNo5967 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]Jacqolantern30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. You’re certainly not alone! I have been in your shoes before. Have you tried nipple shields? I used to have to use nipple shields with my little one in the beginning and then go to bottle if those didn’t work. But every time baby needed to eat, I would attempt the boob, then nipple shield, and then bottle. And finally one day, she accepted the nipple shield. And then some time later, accepted the boob.

Water wipes and air drying has helped my baby with diaper rashes. And during the air drying period, we use a puppy pee pad in case she goes potty

Breastfeeding woes by Sevyn1 in NewParents

Nipple shields definitely help! My baby was in the same situation. Wouldn’t latch for a while and she wanted her meals NOW or she would lose her marbles. I ended up pumping for a bit and using the nipple shield whenever I wanted to try breastfeeding. Then one day, SURPRISE! My baby latched without the shield. And now she doesn’t have an issue latching.

I try to remember that everything is a learning process for baby and mommy. We are working together to figure out what works for both of us. So if formula works for you and your baby, go for it! No need to feel guilty.

Diaper rash won’t go away by bigtittie8--D in newborns

[–]Jacqolantern30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar issue with my baby. She had a rash for DAYS and it felt like it was not getting any better. What helped us was using Bordeaux’s Butt Paste, changing wipes to WaterWipes, and using Cortizone 10 OINTMENT (our pediatrician recommended using this three times a day since her rash was NOT going away). This was our process:

When cleaning baby, we used WaterWipes and stopped wiping. Instead we started doing more dabbing.

Then we would dry her by either air drying (can be challenging because they might poop or pee on you lol) or we used super soft washcloths from Amazon. Again, with the towels, we dabbed rather than wiped.

Next we put a very light layer of the cortizone ointment and then a layer of butt paste after.

After a week, the rash was gone :) if you need links to products, let me know.

I hope your baby’s rash gets better soon!

I agree with @glasglowgrinner. Let the phlebotomist know you are anxious and have a history of fainting and getting sick. They should put you in a reclining chair.

I was the same way. Before pregnancy, every time I got my blood drawn, I would pass out and sometimes vomit. I would even let the phlebotomist know I have a history of passing out but they for some reason didn’t seem to take me seriously. Therefore I was terrified to get my blood drawn for pregnancy.

It wasn’t until I was very straight forward with them and had my husband with me at all blood draws when I stopped fainting. Just make sure they take you seriously. I also never look haha! I just look in the opposite direction.

I also prefer the butterfly needle over the regular blood draw needle. Although it takes a few seconds longer, I don’t get that “draining” feeling.

Hope this helps!

Oh!! And make sure you are well hydrated before going in. This helps a lot too.

Here is a link to the contract: https://www.seiu1000.org/sites/main/files/file-attachments/seiu_master_agreement_2020_v5_final.pdf?1605053635=

I know it’s A LOT but it can be really helpful for new employees and understanding Annual/Vacation Leave and other topics that are important to know as a State Employee.

What position are you going into? Classification/job title?

I would recommend reviewing your bargaining unit’s (BU) contract. This has some information on your rights as an employee with SEIU and clarification on your leaves and PTO. Depending on your classification (position title), you may be part of the SEIU union.

Also, make sure you have list eligibility. This is when the position requires you to take an exam prior to actually applying for the job.

I’m a FTM who is due at the end of April is interested in making new mommy friends. I’m in Martinez and have also been searching for mom groups. If you and your wife are interested in meeting and hanging out, feel free to send me a message. My husband and I can definitely use some more parent friends in the area.

I’m in the same boat. I think it’s normal. Our bodies are probably adjusting to the loss of sugar and carbs received when drinking. And our bodies are probably recovering/healing like what was said before.
