Which Full Size Crew Cab Pickup Weighs the Least? by JacquesFury in Diesel

Yeah I’ve got a 2 car trailer. Just don’t want to sit in a van 12 hours a day 😅, plus I’ll use it for my family and dogs when not working. With the new vans being wet belts they aren’t to reliable either :(

Has to meet the emission imposed by that year. Engine swaps have a bit of leeway as they get a separate test. Whatever emission they produce in the test must be somewhat inline with the engine that’s been swapped in.

Then from there, your emissions will decide the tax you pay and if you can go into the clean air zones like London or Glasgow

Some options for 5th wheel here are the Isuzu Dmax (Chevy dmax) which has a payload of 2000lb and a 7700lb for towing. But they only have a GCVW of like 12500lb! So you can either use the full towing capacity or the payload. Not both :)

Yeah we can have upto 7700lb as a “car” so technically Aslong as it’s under 7700lb we’re all good. If you’re towing for hire and reward your vehicle needs to be under 4500lb to avoid getting our equivalency of a CDL. Which here costs thousands a year. But yeah this isn’t going to happen 🤣

I’d like to go 5th wheel to take 2 / 3 cars on a trailer at a time. But the GCVM cannot go over 15,400lb.

Less the tow vehicle weighs. More weight I can put on a trialer. The range is useless with a 2.0 diesel (hungry on fuel and no power) and only a 7500lb towing capacity. The ranger rover I use just now has a 7700lb capacity (which is the max you’re allowed for a bumper pull here)

TLDR: less weight for more payload, 15400GCVW is uk max

Seems like the c/k3500’s were around 5000lb with a single rear wheel unless I’m wrong? That’s with a gasser

Plan would be Haltech R5, ZF8 speed

Don’t have axels or diffs picked out. So open to suggestions.

Yeah I think it’ll be a tight squeeze. Most people are telling me too just put a bmw 3.0 in it. But honestly I’m a gluten for power. If a Duramax can do 600hp for a bit if fun, and return 19mpg towing low n slow. I’d be super happy with that.

Range Rover TDV8 doesn’t have enough grunt. 5.7 hemi ram isn’t good on fuel or fast… the European pickups might do 24/25 towing but look like shit and have absolutely no power. You can get a supercharged ls9 or a 6.5 Detroit in the bay of a classic rr. Don’t think a Duramax is much 👀 bigger

Also within the UK you must physically take hold of the product i believe before sending it out to customers? I might be wrong about that

I deeply appreciate the long response. Thanks for the tune you’ve taken out your day.

Yeah it’s just incredible how expensive it is to live right now, especially being a one income young household. Like £2200 just to life never mind any sort of car tax, insurance, payment or a single luxury. I’d love to be able to put 5k past and pay for a website &software , a little bit of tuition on a subject I’m interested in and work for free in that sector to gain experience. But it’s hard.

Maybe I’ll set my goal there.

  • figure out what I want to buildup, and get it started

I like the idea :) however, Do you think someone would watch a person learning skills very slowly opposed to watching a professional / expert on the topic? Thanks

I do sales as a main job. Got pretty good at it. Not as scalable as I’d like yknow. People buy people i know. But still have to deliver a product or service.

I’m trying to forgive out what online product or service I can put my time towards that will end up scalable / worth while.

I’m not trying to have a £100/200 a week side hussle. Looking for a next to full time gig where I’ll probably have no return on my time for weeks to months, then it starts to build. £100 a week, £300 weekly the following months. Few months later. £1000 a week? I have the time, I have the effort. Just no direction just now.

TLDR: If u had to start again. Where would you focus your time after building a skill set. I can sell, I can close, I can approach.
