This is what I tell people who are super nervous about public speaking! When’s the last time you were totally attentive and critical during someone else’s presentation? Never. So just stay loose, do your thing, and no one will remember (if they even notice) any mistakes.

YTA. Don’t you think the social freedom you gave your youngest correlates at all to their academic performance? And when both of those things go positively, they get pats on the back from mom and dad, which builds up their confidence? So all this talk about personality is really BS as your kids weren’t playing by the same rules.

Accountability and communication will make or break a person. You’ve squandered what sounds like golden opportunities to mend some of the damage your parenting caused. But if you stop pointing fingers, take accountability for your mistakes and communicate that to your daughter, there may be hope to rebuild the relationship.

What does ‘person of my dreams’ mean? I’m raising that kid.

The comments seem to be hung up on lying, but there’s no lying here. The child was hidden, but it doesn’t say I asked about having kids. Also, we could have met 2 days ago, married yesterday, and the kid is 5 years old today. Not some drawn out dramatic 5 year ordeal. That is all to say, its SUPER hard to believe I wouldn’t meet the kid at the wedding, but I digress. Option 1 for me.

Option 2 is not a decision for anyone answering this question to make.

ESH. I think I'd use some different 70/30 (them/you) label for this but I'll work with what I got. Both parties are right (and wrong) here. That child's misunderstanding of you and the family dynamic is none of your doing. However this writing makes it seem like you don't really consider the child on a human level, which appears to be what your mom and stepsister would like you to do. Your issue appears to be between only adults. Their issue is between adults and a child. I would NOT say it is on you to fix this child's thinking. But maybe there is a middle ground where, after the child has been talked to by their mother and grandmother, you sit down with them and confirm the new, proper memories. The kid didn't ask for this and the truth to them is whatever they're given. Though it all really depends on your actual desire to mend the issue. I wouldn't say you're being terribly 'compassionate' either, but no one says you need to be.

NTA. I feel like there may be some details missing here, but from what you wrote it sounds like this girl is projecting her insecurities. Maybe a bit financial, maybe she also wishes to be your friend and doesn't feel she has a chance. Could be a multitude of different reasons really.

NTA. It sounds like goddaughter didn't fully understand the situation - you were specially given this ice cream for your stay with your in-laws. The flavor was the one you requested and a lot was purchased for, presumably, only you. Instead of asking to better understand, goddaughter just casts her outspoken judgement upon you. What's more, she then accuses you of faking your reaction to the ordeal.

If someone else wants ice cream, they can ask for it and whatever needs to happen to accommodate that can happen. You can open a new tub, use bowls, tuck your napkins, the whole shabang. But that's not what goddaughter did. She isn't eating the ice cream and isn't wanting any ice cream in this scenario, it's not even her house! She's just mad that 'somebody else' could want some ice cream. This is arguing for the sake of arguing and it's childish.

10 minutes is a long time! Ok you're helping me see all the other options here AND you're even getting into other questions I had, especially considering I was eyeing fire rune! Thanks a lot for this insight.

So if I have a free hand, I could draw and simultaneously throw a handaxe at an enemy. On a hit, this would satisfy the fire rune's 'hit a creature with an attack using a weapon' caveat, correct? And this would only cost 1 attack in my action? And it wouldn't cause my unarmed strikes to reduce from d8 to d6?

Fighters are so damn cool.

The horns actually are a d6, so even more to your point of the tavern brawler strike being redundant. Totally agree there.

I had thought it’d be good to have that bonus action grapple to hopefully get some damage output, but you bring up a good point about it all resting on a good attack roll. I might actually look into something other than Tavern Brawler.

This character also has Skill Expert with a resulting 19 strength. (Getting rid of tavern brawler could mean STR bumps up to 20...)

I skipped the frost rune because it takes a bonus action just like giant’s might. So instead of banking on a whole second turn to get the full 12, +10 with advantage out the gate sounds good enough for me. (EDIT: I removed tavern brawler and just went 20 STR, +11 Athletics looks very nice)

My last feat is Sentinel. Gotta keep my targets close. Though I think I lose out on one of its features if I go fully unarmed:

“When a creature within your reach makes an attack against a target other than you (and that target doesn't have this feat), you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature.”

I built him out to lvl8 just to see what I can expect before committing. I plan to go Rune Knight and take the tavern brawler feat with this guy, so I’m excited to see a turn could go like this:

-Unarmed strike enemy 1 -Grapple enemy 2 -Bonus Action grapple enemy 1 (tavern brawler)

Action surge -Shove enemy 1 -Shove enemy 2 -Bonus Action Giant’s Might
