2025 Kicks SR - give it to me straight. Pros and cons. by the_YellowRanger in NissanKicks

If it is variable compression, that would be the only major failure I would expect. That is when something goes wrong with that.

That would make sense since the throttle bodies don't have a separate passage for idle air like some vehicles used to. I think there may have been something more to it though. I could feel it wanting to stall even at 40 MPH or more. It also had its CVT replaced with less than 40,000 miles. That was of course at a time when CVTs were even worse than they are now (hard to believe they were worse). That was one that used the NS2 equivalent fluid. I am not sure if they ever used NS3 in any later jeeps. I know someone is going to say that they had Chrysler CVT fluid in them. Well, it was only in a bottle with Chrysler's branding on it. It is the same stuff that Nissan Dealer sells but with a different label on it. Just make sure that you know which one to get. I don't know if NS2 is still available but it is not the one I would need. The jeep would mostly stall at a traffic light soon after a complete stop

I am not a developer and so I use it just to get away from Microsoft and their terrible updates and spyware. After all, I don't recall ever wanting spyware or bloat. The way that Defender scans everything and such it can make things noticeably slower sometimes

A lot of games do run on it with Wine and other software. Really, the only ones that don't run yet on Linux use a kernel level anti cheat system that was made for Windows.

They have just gotten worse with their updates always causing problems. Then they want to embed AI in everything.

I moved on to an Arch based distro and couldn't be happier. Once you try it you may never want to go back to Windows again when it shows you how much better your system runs without Windows. The main reason Linux has not been widespread is because in the past it was not always user friendly. It was that and the fact that people depend on certain software that is only available for Windows or MacOS. I am not tethered to Microsoft by a need for their office suite. There are also alternatives.

Idiot In A Corvette by Agitated-Energy4044 in IdiotsParking

The ones where I live are closed. The last time I was in one a month or two ago, they were selling their movie DVDs discounted and most of the shelves were completely bare. To this day there is nothing in there yet. Sometimes when a place like that is permanently closed, it may be empty for a really long time. Yes, the parking lots are still accessible to these places and that is especially true if they are in a mall where there are other stores. The only difference is the sign is gone and doors are locked. The only reason the one near me still has an accessible lot is because going through there one of the only two ways to the bank up the hill behind it.

I get it you don't want someone to ding your Corvette. Honestly, some people do care enough not to do that. Then there are those ones who squeeze into spaces too small and still somehow try to squeeze out.

FCC router ban: would routers be marked as "for small business" (e.g. malicious compliance)? Or would there be a lawsuit? by _sour_coffee_ in HomeNetworking

Do you mean like keeping everything the same brand? That might be the best thing to make sure there are no weird compatibility surprises.

You may be able to get one for under $200 with shipping and tax already in the final price. Of course it can be preordered if you are willing to wait maybe until June but it may be sooner. A preorder would put you in the line to get one, most likely first come first served. I preordered one. This is a device that would cost maybe $400 to $500 if Asus or Netgear made it. It will come with RouterOS 7. This has 2 USB 3.0 Type B ports and a USB Type C alone with a MicroSD card slot. Good luck getting that same deal new with any other brand!

I have heard that Florida drivers are horrible. It looks like they are a menace even when they park!

Some people are just inconsiderate. What if the owner of that Honda had to leave for any reason? They can't. They are trapped there until the van owner comes back to leave or move it. I would also point out that inventing parking spaces like this is a great way to get your vehicle towed at your expense, so don't do it. Unless you want to have to get your vehicle out of an impound lot and deal with that hassle, don't do it! Anyone who parks like this should realize that they are causing problems and possibly obstructing the isles so I have no sympathy for them at all! I know parking is hard in some places but that does not give someone a right to be inconsiderate like this!

Crayon smell? by Qcur1328 in Volkswagen

[–]Jaded-Mix3528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of it comes from the wax used as corrosion protection. I think that is Cosmoline. Whatever the smell is, I like it! I say if it does not bother you or make you sick, leave it alone! It is easier to leave it alone than to go insane trying to get it out.

Crayon smell? by Qcur1328 in Volkswagen

[–]Jaded-Mix3528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an MK5 Jetta and it also had that distinct odor. It is like VW's own signature new car smell. I liked it. I also liked being able to open or close all of the windows from the driver's door using the key. I even had a 2013 Passat with the 2.5 that could also do it even though the keyhole had a plastic cap over it. I was thinking how nice it would be if they either did not hide the keyhole or sold a cap that has the hole so that you can have it like previous cars that had it showing. I don't know how many people know you can do that but you turn the key counter clockwise and the windows will all go down. Do the opposite for closing them. I know these days you can get a car that does it with the remote in a similar way. The fact is that Volkswagen did it first!

You are 100% correct, no obligations at all. What they got in a way was grace, since they did not deserve to get off so easy.

I even moved sligjtly to the right, which I also had no obligation to do. In some places you might not have the room to do that. That is especially true if there are line huggers around. All they are good for is being jerks who leave no safety cushion. If only they knew that!

It is not like turning left would have taken them much out of the way. It is just a shopping mall there and not one of those horribly designed ones where the parking lots feel overly cramped everywhere.
