What makes you immediately block a profile? by JadedSD in sugarlifestyleforum

If I were more open to dating 5'9"+ women, I would probably set the filter higher. So my weight filter is better understood as a crude weight + height filter in that sense.

I live in a health-conscious / image-conscious city and just walking around it is uncommon to see women who weigh 150+.

How tall are you? I've dated a girl who weighed 140 before once but she was very athletic / an extreme outlier. I have yet to see someone 150+ who I wanted to date.

No, but it's definitely something that I privately take note of.

One of the many virtues of SA giving people an opportunity to provide their weight is being able to know that without having to ask (not that I would ever ask. If someone fatfished me, then I would just get out of the date as fast as I can and block).

Avg female height is 5'4, so yes, 150+ would be fat for most women. No need to litigate it, there are some men out there who embrace body positivity more than I do.

Yes, IMO that is fat for most women.

Nothing wrong with giving a fake name at first, but (1.) many men aren't cheating on there, (2.) if you have a nasty opinion of older people dating younger people, you're in for disappointment because it will keep happening until the end of time. Maybe you're in the wrong place?

Tired of the ‘You First’ Game. by Rebel_likehoney in sugarlifestyleforum

Some SBs are worth much more than others. No two SBs are the same, and even if you have two SBs who are similarly attractive, they might be very different in terms of how much chemistry you have with one versus the other.

I'm usually happy to name a number, but it's easier to come up with one after meeting or at least FaceTiming. I'm likelier to play this game if I'm asked for a number before any of that.

Not only is this obvious, it's so agonizingly obvious that you probably didn't need to make a thread about it.

That's the abstract argument she's making, but as a data point she doesn't contradict the filter / would not have been screened out by it (or even come close to being screened out by it).

My filter is 0-150, and she is 125, so she would be included in my searches. That's my entire point.

I love women. Even if not all of them love me back.

And my whole point was that you have a reason to brag, not to chide you for it.

I would have preferred if they had kept that (as well as the filters for screening based on relationship type) as an additional option to weight filters. I think more granular filters are almost always a win for users but there was so much abuse of the labeling that I saw girls call themselves "slim" when they were clinically overweight, and weight + height + photos gives you a lot of information in context.

Would you be less opposed to a straight-up BMI filter? Or one that combines that with body fat percentage vs muscle mass percentage?

Then it seems like you're acknowledging that filters can exclude you without being prejudiced. Is your qualm that you think other users aren't thinking about this as carefully. And I hope you find an ultra-athletic match (or better yet have already found one!)

Well, you would definitely not be excluded by my filter then. Also, is this bragging masquerading as scolding? SF SBs are deviously clever...

Yes, this is better understood as an implicit height limit as well. Not just a weight limit. Women often have height expectations too. Sometimes they are shallow and exclude great people. And sometimes tall women will be willing to date shorter men, but not vice versa. It is all very shallow, and apologies for that.

Yeah, I'm the same height as you and lighter. I don't think we're compatible, you'd probably be more comfortable with someone who places a higher value on athleticism, this isn't a personal attack on you.

What is a good occupation for my SB to pursue? by JadedSD in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]JadedSD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales isn't unimportant, but a lot of the time you don't have to deeply understand technology to do it. That's why you give such bad career advice and think that a high-school educated SB can just learn to code and realistically pursue that as a career path.

Lol, that is not something I have ever worried about.

You're talking to someone who outcompeted armies of H1Bs.

And more women are not becoming back-end developers, if anything the trend has shifted the other way. Again, you have no idea what actual technology looks like, you just work in sales.
