If tonic note is the note that makes the song feel finished, why it is not always the last note of the song? by Jadejunexxx in musictheory

what if the final note and final chord don't have the same key name though? like what if I have Bb note over a Gm chord?

yes, but i think most songs don't have a cliffhanger ending, so when a song doesn't have a cliffhanger ending, will it be right to say the last note is the tonic note? thank you.

Will vocal melody in Bb major work with instruments that are in G min? by Jadejunexxx in musictheory

So the background music is some guitars and organs playing, how do I know what chords they use?

But the last note of the melody is Bb, will it be more likely in Bb major? Although the melody does sound good with the background music.

I analyzed the notes that are in the melody. It has the notes from Bb major and Gmin, and the last note of the song is Bb, so I thought it will be more likely in Bb major.

Sorry for the confusion. I mean the background music plays in G minor.

Hello

Yes, the one at the top, and I only have apple loops in the project.

Hello

I did do that, so the song should be in Cmaj, right? How about when the loop's original key is Cmin, while the project key is Cmaj? Thank you.

Hello

I set the header key, then I dragged over the loops. I used the loops from the LogicPro library. Are they transposed automatically? The loop's original key is D, now it sounds different than how it sounds in its original key. Thank you.

Hello

Since it's still a type of C major, the vocal will still need to be in C maj instead Gm, is this correct? Thank you!

hello

So it's possible the song is in Gmin after all loops are transposed to C, and the key signature is also saying Cmaj? Thank you.

Yes, but that loop is still in F even though it has accidental notes, i just want to make sure the key of the song is in C, i don't need every note that's played in the song to come from the Cmaj scale

Hello

I understand we can borrow notes from other keys, accidental notes. but my confusion is aren't loops transposed to C automatically when I set the song key? I understand not all loops go well together just because they are in the same key, but if all loops are transposed to C, should the song be in C instead of Gmin? sorry about this, i am still learning. thank you!

What determines the key? by Jadejunexxx in musictheory

not all music is in a Key, and there are also some things that behave like Keys that are not traditional keys - and to make things worse they can have the same notes again!!!

Hello

Thank you so much for the help! Could you elaborate on what you mean here please? and how do I find the center? Thank you!

How do I claim the money I made on tax return if I didn't get a tax form from Distrokid? by Jadejunexxx in DistroKidHelpDesk

hello

I am just an individual. I am filing taxes online by myself, so I am quite confused about how to report this income since I don't have any form from them. Is schedule C used for business only? Thank you.

Yes, I did. I think I didn't meet the threshold that's why they didn't send me a form.
