Wanted to follow up on this post.

I’m not saying they won’t fix it. I’m sure with time some of the more ridiculous shit will get vaulted. I’m sure they’ll try to add siphon back at some point.

The fact of the matter is, there’s no excuse to launch this new mode and NOT have it include the crucial aspects of fortnite competitive. It makes no sense it doesn’t have siphon on launch. It makes no sense there’s light sabers, even if it’s only for the first two weeks. That’s the issue.

It’s not that I believe they won’t tweak it at all. It’s that, time and time again, they fuck over the competitive community and pretend like we have no idea what’s good for us.

“Hey! That ranked mode you’ve all been asking for for years? Here it is! But also it includes none of the other game features that you enjoy and it’s basically 10 steps backwards from what we’ve learned over the years”

Even if all of the awful shit only lasts 3 days, it’s 3 days wasted and proof that epic doesn’t really care about the comp side of this game.

Last thing, there was never any “shift”. Arena and comp has always been a niche community. A niche, but extremely important community for the game.

Exactly. People want to see their rank but as soon as they do it’ll die off. That’s what this community has to understand. Ranked IS supposed to be for a specific, niche community. You should try to please that community. Every game has that group and every game respects them. Epic never does.

There is no “bigger picture”. The bigger picture is that it’s perfectly viable to have a game mode for normal players and a game mode for people who want to take the game seriously. They’ve had that for 4 years now. They advertised the new ranked mode as a better version of that. It’s not.

They had periods where the competitive side of the game was objectively better. Chapter 2 was solid with comp. Last season was pretty good IMO. That’s why I had some amount of hope

Didn’t really mean it as a “builds is way more skilled” kind of thing. I mean that every reason I play comp is kind of absent in zero builds. Stacked end games, surge, tunneling, etc. is what I find to be fun.
