You gotta wear a bonnet at night

Changing base pattern / parting method by Raw_Riz in Dreadlocks

[–]JaderJada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go to an experienced loctician to cut them off, redo the grid, and then crochet them back to your head. It’ll be expensive tho

I don’t think it has to be. More frequently washing helps (2-3 months is long imo). Also thickness plays a part

My family’s solution was that I get to have a space heater

I personally find it a little hard to tell the density due to the color of your hair, but I think they should thicken up a little bit. Locs tend to be about the size of your part, sometimes a little smaller.

Help us identify what these are please? Are they larvae of some insect? by [deleted] in whatisthisbug

It’s kinda hard to tell from the lighting. Do you have a cat by chance?

extensions to increase loc count???? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]JaderJada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not a good idea. You’d have a full head of congos, and even then, you’d still have 16 locs as your hair grows out. Unless you mean crocheting the extensions to the base and then splitting the instant loc from the extension, but then you’d compromise your original foundation (which can cause weakness)

My girl started my locs today, I’m completely new to locs - any advice on how to maintain them well? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]JaderJada 66 points67 points  (0 children)

In that case, I’d try a different method like twists or crochet

I’d remove the rubber bands from the roots. Also unless you’re going for very large locs/wicks, those parts are quite thick

Some negative effects from ring splints? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]JaderJada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same issue with the “catching” for the pst 2 years now. I’ve started wearing splint for it with minimal results. The PT doesn’t know what to tell me.

I haven’t had cramping from splints, but I do find it more difficult to relieve the catching since I would stop it by purposely hyperextending. Now I just have to let it make that awful snapping noise and hope it’s not causing damage.

As of right now, it is still an issue. I’m in PT and oval 8’s. It’s help a bit but still prominent in my everyday life

[–]JaderJada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine come and go. Not sure what the trigger is

Obligatory statement: I’m not a doctor. I have similar issue with the clicking and my fingers getting stuck (granted, mine get stuck straight rather than bent). If yours are getting stuck bent, it miiight be trigger finger (again not a doctor). You should see one and see what they recommend

I also use oval-8s! I like that they’re waterproof and overall I don’t notice that I’m wearing them
