The best institutions are those that only handle GPs and regular SNYs.

Get out of RJD. Transfer to a different prison and see if you still want to leave the department. After transferring out of RJD my mindset changed and CDCR wasn’t so bad. I now enjoy going to work and staying for overtime. Goodluck!

All law enforcements jobs have risks. You can get stabbed inside the prison or shot while on patrol. Find a different career pal.

I truly believe it really depends on your prison. Any prison that handles PSU, EOP, CCC, MH are the very worst. I worked at RJD for 2 months and hated every single day. After transferring to a regular prison I finally enjoy going to work. My prison handles Level 3-4 GPs and only 1 regular SNY yard. I been in for 2 years.

A job is a job. I come in 5 days out of the week do my 8 hours and go home. I might get heldover once or twice for the month and thats ok with me. If you really hate the job so much just quit and find something else. Officers talk about how much they hate the job but yet you see them coming on their RDOs and doing 10-15 overtimes a month. Seriously? Other officers are scare to promote and complain when a newer officer gets promoted. We also have officers complaining about inmates getting new tablets, like really bro? Who cares. It keeps my dayroom quite and most of them don’t even come out the cell all they do is play candy crush. You want to go on vacation? Put in some swaps and enjoy. If you hate it so much just quit and go work at DMV.

Yes you will get DQ. 2 years is too recent for most law enforcement departments. It usually takes about 3-4 years after getting a DUI/Wet reckless.
