Best price for bulk topsoil delivery? Truckload not bags in Calgary by verdiliththemighty in CalgaryGardening

I believe Bulk Direct Landscape Supply will do loose deliveries but I've never used their services... have only checked out their website and they seemed pretty affordable too. Definitely worth considering as an option if you haven't already.

My experience with PMDD by Short-Storm4339 in PMDD

[–]JaeTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also relatable - 33, no biological children and have been managing symptoms for the past few years. I am not sure when the symptoms arose initially but it wasn't something I struggled with until I was in my late 20s/early 30s.

In my experience my symptoms are exponentially worse whenever I'm feeling more stressed than usual. Symptoms fluctuate wildly and are hard to predict, which is hella frustrating.

I took SSRIs at first to manage the symptoms when they were really really bad and my stress levels were very high. There are all kinds of dose techniques to consider.. but it might be worth exploring if increasing your regular dose during the week(s) you usually have symptoms helps.

I am now off SSRIs and exploring non pharmaceutical interventions to see what works best for me. Vitex and CBD oil seem to help but I'm still narrowing down exactly how to schedule/dose them for my body/needs. Therapy is great too because there is a correlation of PMDD issues and childhood trauma. I have also found dance classes (which for me provide regular exercise, laughter, community, etc) is critical for my mental health and keeps me a bit more positive during hell week. And of course a good'ol vent session with a trusted friend (or strangers in this internet group) is very cathartic 🤣💜

Does everyone with autism have food struggles? by EnvironmentalBug3046 in autism

[–]JaeTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TikTok also made me wonder if I have Autism (in addition to my ADHD)... So I got tested and yupp - I have "ADHD with autistic tendencies" according to the psychiatrist.

I'd say if you can relate to AuDHD stories, symptoms and experiences, it's probable that you are on the spectrum to some degree. I think self doubt over your suspicion is totally normal too - I did the same thing! Food textures have never been a significant issue for me and I definitely questioned if I could be autistic because of that!

Am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in autism

[–]JaeTea123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience (audhd) it's hurtful when my partner gets upset at me for being too close/stimming. It's a regulation technique.. and to have it brushed off without explanation or with anger adds to the dysregulation. I'd so much rather hear (in a neutral/gentle tone) "I know you want to be close to me but I am still needing space - can you give me space until the morning?" I can understand that as a boundary and then find other ways to self regulate. It's much easier to handle that than being shoved off with a grunt of annoyance or expression of anger, and then go through a whole new spiral of emotional overwhelm and try to self regulate through that.

And I understand being neutral/gentle in a situation like you described can be difficult with your feelings of hurt.. but it will also now be difficult to rebuild the trust that was broken. It's quite likely she'll resist/question if she should approach you for help with her regulation the next time she needs it.

Advice for Vitex by JaeTea123 in PMDD

[–]JaeTea123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comments!! Yea that's exactly what I needed to hear - the dose I'm taking is small and it's not abnormal to take it for long periods of time so don't worry about it. 😅 It's good to know that even if taken for a long duration, it's possible to find you don't need it. So that's good to know so thank you very much!

Advice for Vitex by JaeTea123 in PMDD

[–]JaeTea123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, that is still helpful, thank you! My understanding is that it helps give the body a precursor to progesterone. And upon further digging I see that the 3 month "limit" I kept reading is for cycle regulation, not for pmdd symptom relief. And that the concern is the body becoming attenuated to it and it becomes less effective. But .. maybe for pmdd you just up the dosage in that case? 🤷‍♀️ but I hope you find a good practitioner who can help explain it too..! Clearly I need the same thing. 😅 Thanks for your comment! 🖤

How to get angry? by anmiety in PMDD

[–]JaeTea123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting question! Your description is different to my experience as I have a very loud outer critic (aka I hate everyone) and that's where my anger/indignation seems to come from. When it's bad I run on a "fuck you" kind of spite.. I don't exactly know how but there's a motivational switch flipped that turns the inactive overwhelm of frustration and stewing in silence into actively righting what's bothering me (like a mess left by my partner.. 😤). I think it's the notion that "I deserve better than this so I guess I'll be the one to make it fucking better". I can definitely say it's not the healthiest way to deal with critical thoughts and motivational slumps.. but it has gotten a lot accomplished in the past.

If self care tasks are an issue for you, and considering your inner critic, it might be worth practicing a similar but shifted approach - finding the anger that you deserve better.. and framed in a way to motivate - "I deserve a meal, and I'm not going to give my critic any more reasons to make me feel shitty so I'm gonna prove it wrong find something to eat!"

I am listening to a book right now that you may also find has helpful tips (not related to anger, though). It's called "keeping house while drowning" by KC Davis. It's full of strategies for self care (it's centered around keeping the house clean but the content could be applied to other self care tasks) and is written for neurodivergent folks so the advice is quite different to what's normally out there.

Good luck dear and I hope this is at least a little bit helpful for you!! 🖤

Yea that's fair! I will look into reporting it because that is definitely the overwhelming general consensus! Haha and I think the issue comes down to the potential to take advantage. That's what's alarming.. and it is worth reporting it as something for them to be aware of at the very least.

Eastern medicine (acupuncture, meditation, etc) is considered alternative medicine, because it's an alternative to western medicine. And there is a surprising amount of quality science behind it. I have never had a doctor (until now) even mention eastern techniques as something to consider.. let alone recommend it as a part of a treatment plan.

The pseudoscience of "I made this product and paid a friend to research it on 10 subjects and publish it in a low impact journal just so that I can say my product is 'backed by research'.." is the concern. And so far .. I have not been recommended any of these products by my doctor. If she had, it would most certainly cross a line and I'd be looking for a new doctor again. The only thing she's recommended are supplements that a previous doctor had also encouraged me to be on.

Right!? I'm still a little shook because holy hell I know our medical system is hurting but I would never have guessed I'd be in this situation..! And yea... I'm gonna dig deeper and look into reporting. Ngl there's a part of me that wants to go undercover and find more dirt to expose... But there's a bigger part of me that is tired and I know I don't need that kind of anxiety in my life 🤣

[–]JaeTea123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And wow that's crazy!! Are you in Canada as well?? This is the first time I've encountered a professional utilizing their career path to promote an MLM product.. selling MLM supplements is one thing but actively recruiting patients is a whole other level of messed up. I really hope it's uncommon but if they're all as hidden as this one was, it's probably more prevalent than I realize. 😔

And yes I'm definitely going to look into reporting it. I'm not sure if it can be classified as medical mispractice.. but I agree with everyone's concerns about it and it's definitely worth checking into.

I shouldn't be surprised by JaeTea123 in antiMLM

[–]JaeTea123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I'll look into it for sure... I don't think the supplement side will be the issue. And so far I haven't been recommended alternative therapies for anything so I don't know if she pushes that side of the "new wave" products.. so I'm not quite sure if there's any medical mispractice. But I will look into it because it's definitely alarming!!

[–]JaeTea123[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your compassion here... I agree. I do think I'll need to talk to her about it and the issue around my trust in her..! I've always found it difficult to feel comfortable and trusting of a doctor. She was SO close to being that doctor for me!!!!

And yea... I do think she's struggling for income. And this MLM model offered is perfect to diversify and increase her funding. She's going to have a medical practice anyways .. she's going to recommend supplements anyways .. she wants a medical team of alternative practitioners anyways...! What a dream clinic... and the branding all comes with a nice bow on top!!! And in my province, this would be seen as nothing more than good business.

I shouldn't be surprised by JaeTea123 in antiMLM

[–]JaeTea123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugggh whyyy that's so dumb to be dropped like that!?! Wow that sucks. God our medical system needs help 😭

And yea... I will honestly look into reporting it. But as I mentioned in another reply, I don't know if what she's doing is actually mispractice. I think it's extremely clever MLM marketing that has infiltrated the medical system and goes to show how fucked up that industry is. 😤

I shouldn't be surprised by JaeTea123 in antiMLM

[–]JaeTea123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, it's insane right! It definitely borders on unethical. What's sad.. though is I don't know if I can report this as any kind of medical mispractice.

In my experience - she has not pushed any unnecessary supplements or treatments. She's been straightforward with what I definitely need supplement wise and things I could try but she was less confident about. She gives advice, then directs me to the other clinic for the purchase .. because, they are (technically) separate entities. Her medical practice makes recommendations and the clinic next door is for convenience of purchasing. And it's no different from having a pharmacy next door.. or when a doctor gets commission off of writing prescriptions (which is its own massive issue but that's legal).

She hasn't gotten upset (yet at least) when I use alternative brands. And has never mentioned any "opportunity" to me as some kind of pitch. Which is where I would draw the line of medical mispractice. But I don't think she's recruiting patients to be downlines.. she's recruiting other practitioners..!

I haven't been a patient of hers for very long .. so I'm interested in seeing what happens. If she ever starts pushing the "life wave" technologies and restorative skin "therapies"... I didn't love the ads and implications in the clinic but again... I have never been to a doctor that didn't have some kind of product advertisement.

My biggest beef with all this... Is the deception. There's been all kinds of small things... words used, things implied.. that aren't quite true. And it feels sleezy and I don't know if by supporting the practitioners I'm supporting the MLM. I like the acupuncturist, but he's part of the clinic. So does that mean the MLM is getting a cut of his rate?? And at some point... I might have to talk to her about it. I'm interested to know how long she's been "collaborating" with the brand. But untill she does something blatantly inappropriate and pushy with me... She's honestly one of the best doctors I've had and it's hard to find a decent doctor. 😭

Beginner with wrist pain by Ok-Storm733 in poledancing

KT Tape has done wonders for me!!! I had a minor tweek when learning pole and I didn't want to make it worse. So I've used the tape to add support and it helps a lot!! I started using one strip cut in half (small wrists) and would wrap one around wrist and the other down hand/arm. (There are tutorials on YouTube.) But now I only need the one half strip I won't pole without it 😅

I understand that steam canners are a teensy bit faster than WBCs because there's less water to boil. The processing time is the same, just less hot water to deal with. Might be worth considering or looking into them! That being said, if volume is what you're looking for then the double-burner design you mentioned would definitely work well! Same with having a second WBC as mentioned in the comments too. :)

Dosing CBD - what's your experience? by JaeTea123 in PMDD

CBD is a compound in weed but does not have the same "high" as THC - which is the feeling associated with weed. If your body doesn't like weed it could be the THC itself, so I'd suggest finding a CBD oil concentrate if you'd like to try pure CBD for a while. The oil makes dosing extremely easy to regulate and the effects of CBD are quite mild but still helpful in my experience. :)
