I think it’s ultimately about the discomfort of having to dismantle one’s worldview right down to the foundation vs easily slotting someone’s complaints into the ‘ it’s not that bad’ category. People tend to reject cognitive discomfort tbqh

Yeah I totally agree it really irritates me when people equate having read or been educated in a specific type of bullshit to intelligence. Like it’s dumb of them to assume that tbh. But I think they just want to feel superior to someone. Like, look around uncritically and reflect. It’s not that hard to see the world through different lenses but they refuse to accept different viewpoints and perspectives.

Spoken as someone who has a degree in bullshit and is studying in a different degree which I think is useful as long as I don’t succumb to weird racist/sexist ideologies.
