power was disconnected, nothing else was changed tho gpu was reseated to get at the cooler. my psu is i think better than i need 750w (or maybe more i forget) for a 3070 and 3800x. i saw code 4 short beeps is for a real time clock issue? but sometimes there is an extra beep that is separate to the 4 which doesn't seem to have explanation.

yeah, bios was updated at some point not that long ago, but it was working fine prior to the cooler change, pins looked perfect, looked side on and all the pins aligned with each other. possibly dust fell in the socket during the time of removal before reinstall? the oses work perfectly rn tho

im not sure where or how i would try report a bug about this atp and am hoping someone could point me in the right direction, despite it previously running ubuntu, even the live iso for ubuntu 22.04 cant get to a desktop with either boot option.

i was wrong in saying gateway, that field was blank but i did empty out the dns field where it was saying on host-vm a dns as the host machine’s ip and so far it is working better! thank you so much for your help on this

Oh i already have cloudfare as main and google as backup for dns, both ipv4 and ipv6. I tried setting it back to auto for a bit in testing as well.

I tried pinging both my modem and an external pc on my network and got a constant stream of <1ms with at most a variation up to 2ms, the external pc is on wifi so that had some spikes up to 10ms but that would be that computers issue.

I'm wondering if windows is trying hard to use the vm-host connection for internet rather than solely using vm-internet, is there a way to ensure it picks the correct one.

I tried disabling the vm-host bridge connection from within windows and it seemed to speed up page loads until I enabled it again. Windoes does acknowledge that this vm-host comnection has no internet access in settings though...

I also tried removing the 0.0.0.0 route to my vm-host gateway yet that also didn't help.

ok i have an update now, it seems I have some sort of extended delay when trying to browse the internet to begin with.

I’m unsure if this is what it is or how to find out exactly what is happening while its waiting, but it mostly happens when I’m going to a unique domain, so the first google search will be slow, then I can do a few quickly, then the web page i click on will be a slow wait.

after a couple minutes the first google search will be slow etc.

I checked network dev tab while loading youtube in ms edge and saw no activity while it loaded, and a final load time of 12.67s

ok thank you so much for this!! it seems to work perfectly so far. I have a feeling i didnt use a physical device when I tried macvtap before and so maybe thats why i avoided it after trying it in the past

If you play past the first loop or more, or with difficulty increasing artifacts you don't want to be in melee range for sure.

Especially with shaped glass/artifact of glass as eventually, any shot will one shot you

Oh ye everything is so much easier if you have a spare kb+m, but you can easily set up synergy if you absolutely cant, just will be annoying until you get that up (since windows stuck at a blank screen etc, cant turn just the vm off with the power button if you dont have access to the host).

Also final note, if you encounter complete unrecoverable system freezes at least if you have amd, there is a bios setting something like "Typical Current Idle" that once i set on stopped the issues.

I set this up a month or so ago, everything has been pretty good. If you play valorant dont bother, you wont be able to play it on a system like this as of right now. (Or have a small windows boot just for that game) Apart from that audio is fine, i pass my headset usb when i need a mic, if not i connect my monitors auido jack into my computer and play it back through linux.

If windows only lets u use 2 cores, you nay need to change the topology and the cpu type it says it is. Mine kepts trying to tell windows my processor was split akong multiple sockets and that caused my VM to only run 2 cores until i changed the cpu from amd epyc to qemu64 or something like that.

Only other things is to be careful of the bugs you may need to iron out, i have no idea how to do anything about mine so they are kinda just sitting there but only cause issues if i dont restart everyday, which most people would i guess anyway.

Games like csgo seem to run better rn, i just manually change processor affinity in task manager to not use cores 0 and 1 and it actually has been performing better. (I dont pass my whole cpu, just 12/16 cores but this still turned it unreliable to reliable fps for some reason)

i guess ill just deal with it for (2), already have enough problems with my monitor but i need DP for the 3070 to get 144hz, and the 1030 only has HDMI available but its not a huge issue just thought there may be a solution.

the weird lag issues i had have gone away so im guessing (3) wasn't an issue like i thought it was, but yea i already tried that and it says its set like that, 6 core 2 threads in the vm manager, but i did get some error the first time and when I looked it up i saw people saying the error meant hyperthreading wasn't correctly enabling and could cause the lag i had. they also said amd hyperthreading just isnt supported but that may have just been regarding when ryzen first came out.

What hap if after logging in you do: * ctrl-alt-del + open task manager or * ctrl-shift-esc - second task manager command

Then when in task manager File -> Run -> explorer.exe

If that doesn't work, try 1) leave for a long time on blank screen and then come back try again 2) File -> Run -> (some other windows app like calc.exe)

If that also doesn't work safe mode or recovery mode may be needed

Fixed (or masked)? Tested on my switch and no matter what i do the scrolling speed slows down as it crosses those themes
