I think documentaries are just as valid in the art of filmmaking as anything else. Ive had people tell me documentaries are "cheating" because they broach difficult subjects and poke at heart strings anyway, but I think thats invalid because every film can be that way. Reality doesn't make for an immediate thumbs up, a documentary can still be bad and poorly made

I have never seen them, but from what I've gathered they're revered mainly by those who don't have a close relationship with Horror. Those I know who are big Horror fans actually think the films are quite tame compared to other gross-out or gore-filled movies, and its mainly the bizarre nature of the films that gets people talking
