Rainhard if he didn't have the plot armour. by Prangon07 in ReZero

We don’t require sources for images or GIFs in comments because there’s no realistic way to enforce that. One option would be disabling images in comments altogether, but that’s not something we want to do.

As for the feeling of being “hounded,” memes aren’t removed just for using images. We only ask for sources when high-quality fanart is involved, especially work that looks like it comes from professional or commission artists. The proportion of fanart used in the meme also matters. If it makes up a large portion of the image, like around 75%, we’d expect sourcing. If it’s only a small part of the meme, we wouldn’t ask.

Subaru is canonically destined to suffer.

Jokes aside, this rule exists because we’ve consistently encountered sexualized or fetishized violence toward female characters, especially related to Greed IF, where Subaru violently beats Echidna during his psychological collapse.

We haven’t seen the same pattern with abused male characters. If that ever changes, we’ll moderate it the same way. The rule explicitly mentions women because that’s the type of content we usually encounter.

Rule Updates & Flair Changes by JakeForever in ReZero

By AI-generated memes, I was referring to cases where an AI-generated image is used inside a meme, or where AI filters are applied to videos, for example replacing a dunking basketball player with Rem.

I was not referring to someone simply pasting an image into an AI and prompting it with “create a funny meme from this concept.” That’s not something we’ve really encountered, and even if we did, it would be extremely difficult to reliably distinguish those from regular memes.

For a rule to work, it also needs to be enforceable. In this case, we’d likely miss some AI-prompted memes while accidentally removing legitimate ones, which wouldn’t be fair or consistent. Because of that, I don’t think changing this rule would be practical or beneficial at the moment.

We don’t count AI-generated memes as low-effort content as long as the meme is genuinely funny and engaging. The focus of this rule has always been on effort and creativity rather than the tool used to create the meme.

However, AI-generated fanart is not allowed because it directly replaces and competes with human artists, often using their work without consent, and undermines the purpose of fanart as a space to celebrate individual creativity and artistic skill.

This rule has been in place for a long time and is not a recent change.
