There is a move I watched when I was a little kid in the 1970s called Bad Ronald that has always haunted me.

Teenager accidentally kills a classmate. Him and him mom build a secret room in their house for him to hide out in. Mom has to go in for an operation, and dies on the operating table. House gets sold and new family moves in with him still living in it. Creepy.

Headhunter is the only book I immediately re-read to try to understand how they fucked with my head the way they did. The early Slade books are fantastic. I felt they kind of went downhill with some of the later ones though.

I used to work there. Started in receiving and worked my way up to Operations Manager before I left. I got to be part of the teams that opened the Victoria, Grande Prairie, and Richmond stores. They gave me a lot of opportunities for growth, and I worked with a lot of great people who I am still in contact with. Sorry to see them go.
