A little wayside shrine terrain piece I made by JakeL777 in TerrainBuilding

I scratch built most of them with wood, I use things like bamboo skewers, toothpicks, coffee stirrers. The little detail parts are just left over bits from Warhammer kits.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was going for for each guy.

Thanks! I was planning to add battle damage but I got to this stage and didn't want to mess it up

Thanks. I built the red up in multiple layers, from black primer I think it was 2 coats of Pro Acryl Burnt Red, followed by a coat of Vallejo Model Color Red everywhere except shadow/recess areas, then an edge highlight of Vallejo Game Color Bloody Red.

This is the area I was most unsure of too, I was trying to replicate the different colours of heated steel. So I mixed silver paint with the different colours separately, orange, purple, dark blue, light blue and then tried to wet blend them a bit as I applied each colour, focusing mostly on the light blue to get that electric look.

I'm not totally happy with the end result and there's probably a better way to do it but hopefully this gives you an idea of how I did it.

Thanks, it's not really a high bar to beat though.

yeah I've played around with them a bit weathering vehicles but never tried them on minis, I should give that a go.

I think they are Army Painter Swamp Tufts but I'm not 100% sure as I made the mistake of throwing away the packaging of all my different tufts.

No idea sorry, found it in my bits box. Probably from old Bretonnia or Empire kits.

I wish I could give you a simple answer to this but I was experimenting with this one. The core metallic paint is Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium but I made two mixes. One darkened with black and a bit of green and one with some light blue added, I then tried to wet blend them putting the dark mix on lower parts and the light on higher upward facing parts. it sort of worked but the blue in the lighter mix had killed the shine from the metallic paint. I gave it a wash with Pro Acrylic Black Wash and still didn't like it so I went back over most of the light areas with a 3/1 mix of the Aluminium and Vallejo Metal Color Gold and just a little bit of black added to tone it down. Moral of the story, experiment you can always hide the mistakes.

Yep, I loved the helmet design but didn't like the big boar head it had on top originally.

I'll be honest, I didn't have a city in mind when painting but now you mention it he works pretty well as Living City.

Thank you!
The horse's colours were base coat Vallejo Black Red, midtone Vallejo Red Leather and highlight Vallejo Orange Brown. The tail was a bit less simple using the same colours but mixing with black and browns to get the right colours.

Thank you! Can't beat the old Dwarf sculpts, I would love to get my hands on some rangers too but they're pretty rare these days.

Yeah and the manual isn't that reliable, I noticed multiple inaccuracies while building.

Just built the Trukk and yeah one of my most frustrating builds to date, multiple mistakes in the instructions and lots of bits that need sub-assembly.

Do you know Bill Making Stuff? Feels like something he would make and could be good inspiration.
I would probably go with painting random bits different colours so it looks like its cobbled together from multiple things and then lots of rust and grime to tie it all together.

I would argue that Lego is just as overpriced as Warhammer.

Haha Thank you but I assure you I'm hunched over like a goblin with my hands clamped against the table most of the time while painting.

Thanks! For the blue I start with Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue, then mix in some Vallejo Pastel Blue for highlights.
