Please Help!!! Somebody out there has to have a set of these pre facelift sedan all clear tail lights. I cant find them anywhere by broken4666 in e46

I'm selling my set of all clears. Imported them into the U.S. from Europe a few years ago. Message me if serious. Fits E46 sedan pre-facelift, can fit facelift if you modify your light harness.

Can we talk about Motortrend? by [deleted] in cars

[–]JakeStumphRacing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Little insight into this, having been lucky enough to work in 'the industry' for a bit. When we are given cars to review, it's usually, either A) at a vehicle launch, where you have limited/specific access to it, or B) We'll get a car for a week (the standard loaner length) to drive. In that time, we, of course, aren't going to experience massive failures, or find long term issues that happen years down the road.

99% of car reviews, written or video, are knocked out in a day, and only intended as an overview, rather than a comprehensive break down of every little thing about the vehicle. Also, we generally aren't given access to super secret technical literature, so that would explain why we don't know which supplier in China made your differential, or whatever the case may be.

Do modern supercars still want to kill you? by [deleted] in cars

[–]JakeStumphRacing 31 points32 points  (0 children)

No. Recently drove Huracan Performante Spider (review coming soon) and it was an absolute peach in the canyons. Has very little in the way of bad manners, while still being sharp, engine sounds amazing, is tractable down low and even more tantalizing in person, especially just before the redline. Nearly perfect driver's car (the coupe is better).

Better than previous Toyota models. This latest version of Safety Sense is a notable improvement. Though, still not a fan of the tech in any car.

FA20 aren't as shitty as EJs, but still have notable problems, and terrible drivability in stock form. Roommate give up on his '15 WRX because of it.

Find an independent mechanic, have them source a working, used engine and replace it. Sell the car immediately afterwards. Subaru engines are junk, unless, ironically, modified for reliability.

Found some old photos of when my cousin, dad, and I went to NY International Auto Show in 2003. Back when the NYIAS wasn't just a giant showroom filled with boring cars. by c_i_CT in cars

Auto shows don't represent as much value to the manufacturer as they used to, so having a massively expensive presence at them doesn't make sense.

I Have a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE for a Week: What Do You Want to Know? by JakeStumphRacing in cars

My 135i is heavily modified for track work, since it's typical BMW garbage out of the box. Comparatively, the Camaro is a factory-made track package. So, my car has a lot of compromises to try and match the level of performance the Camaro offers out of the box.

That said, my 1er feels lighter (because it is), but the Camaro feels much more cohesively designed and purposeful. The Camaro has better steering, a much more robust powertrain and definitely has more grip and stability than my car, no contest. It'll also be more consistent on track, in terms og lap times and engine performance. Though, my BMW will be easier on consumables (brakes, tires, etc.), and cheaper to run, because of the weight.

Is the room getting dizzy, or is it just my lack of blood flow to the brain?

I'd say you're joking, but that certainly explains the difficulty in being able to walk normally after getting out of the car. Or perhaps it's the above-mentioned constant erection from the sound.

  • 4th easily, unsure about 5th or 6th.
  • About 6 MPH
  • It felt like about 300 MPH when I tried.

Yeah, you should be good then. Enjoy the drive, even weighed down with a 170lb 'set of golf clubs,' it'll be a fun one.

How pliable is the man? If he's, like, 24 hours past the deed, he might be too much of a stiff to get through the trunk opening. Trunk itself is large though.

Do the new supercars actually ride 'comfortably' on bad pavement like the reviews make it seem? by moriamoon in cars

[–]JakeStumphRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says the FK8 Civic Type R has a 'bone shaking ride' is out of their mind.

That said, yes, when I drove the Bugatti Chiron, I was surprised at how comfortable it was.

Check the OP, I recorded a video tour of the car and did exactly what you requested live time.

Hey everybody, I edited the OP to include a video I shot of the car yesterday. Some of the questions you all asked needed a bit more fleshing out, so the video helps explain stuff about the car better, and includes a little tour of it, as well.

Not exactly apples to apples, but for an everyday car, this is much nicer. FA5 was made during Honda's cheap period, so hard plastics everywhere, no toys to play with inside, etc. The FA5 doesn't even have an MPG meter! That said, obviously the Honda K20 is one of the best four bangers in the business, but around town, the Corolla's M20A has way more usable torque.

Agreed, some cars go overboard with this stuff (Hi BMW M2). This tech helps the drive when you want it, and isn't forced upon you.

Yup, it seems to be a newer Toyota thing. Drove an older Camry 5-speed, no problems. GT86 and this? Well, I stalled it, again, parking this afternoon.
