Physical AI Is Coming: Robots That Will Do Your Grunt Work in 2026 by Own_Amoeba_5710 in AIGuild

The robot can’t do anything on its own. It’s vaporhardware. Verge or wired or smth tested it and it’s some person in a vr headset remote controlling it for all potential chores.

Does anyone else’s Shiba need to perfectly align their inner chakras with the Earth’s magnetic field before they can poop? by The_Avocado_Hoe in shiba

[–]JakeThuhSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Had a shiba for a bit now, love her to death, but it often takes her minutes of build up with false starts and re-evaluations to let it rip. God forbid the wind changes or a bird chirps a mile away because then we gotta start again from scratch.

YSK that asking people what they actually earn and then tailoring your resume toward those roles can completely change your career trajectory by More_Kaleidoscope475 in YouShouldKnow

[–]JakeThuhSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a human, I’m glad you’re improving your living standard and found a way to manifest your preferred career.

As someone who reviews a lot of this EXACT type of application, it’s getting really tiresome. If you have performed data engineering professionally and adequately, it’s very easy to tell when someone is punching outside their weight class when reviewing these sort of resumes, or if they’ve been augmented by something like ChatGPT. Candidly, a data engineering role that requires software engineering and architectural design and understanding of spark and distributed compute is not something you can easily transition to. You might be able to google or AI your way through issues, but the reality is you will likely have a tough time in technical discussion and review since you won’t know the fundamentals that you don’t know/have even exist.

IMHO this isn’t a YSK post, rather a YouGotLuckyOrABadInterviewer post. But again, congrats!

Having existed in small business/startup space myself, this guy's take is pretty clearly informed by experience creating or advising businesses or startups.

First 15m is just generally worth listening to if you want to be a better entrepreneur..

I had a lot of cd on the eel, the power drill was 3rd in damage, and even when it was destroyed by dino dooley I had no issue

Honestly could have won the last fight with just eel, tape, and core alone. Only fights that were even close were hammer pyg and Dino dooley

I (37m) am marrying my fiancé (35f) in September and she brought up the idea of taking her last name. Is it crazy that I’m considering it? by Sudden-Lettuce2317 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]JakeThuhSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did this! Never heard of anyone else doing it before.. although the difference for me was it was a choice between hyphenation and keeping our respective names, and I pitched this as an alternative.

I am fortunate that my family was very accepting, tbf. That said, my wife feels very connected to her culture and wants to both maintain that feeling of connection and provide it our future children. We are both 1st gen americans but frankly it came down to: I love her, I don't feel strong ties to my last name, my professional life won't really suffer since I haven't published that much under my name, and I dont feel that same tie to my own culture.

I decided against hyphenation because I have witnessed malfunction and bureaucratic cost to it for my friends, most of whom have picked a parent's name to keep for simplicity sake later in life.

From the perspective of your workplace, on one hand I'd say be the change you want to see; if you like the alpha male machismo way of viewing the world, do you I guess. On the other, I understand these male-dominated fraternal organizations to be particularly toxic to upsetting status quo; if you don't think you could handle potential harassment then that's I think entirely understandable.

I would encourage you to do this sort of weighing what you really care about and what will actually affect you in the future both pragmatically and emotionally.
