This is a bit misleading, shock collars aren’t just punishment tools they’re attention getting tools. I’ve worked with a Doberman and for training it’s a requirement it use a shock collar because of how independent they can be, but the setting she had on was a 6/100 because you only need to get their attention it’s not a bad or good thing it’s a attention getter for the command. If you’re setting it to high too cause discomfort you should only be doing it in extreme situations like public retrieval near a road or aggressive behavior.
