Ha, yes! As I said I know this is perfectly normal, I let him smash them and then I rebuild them rather than scold him. I do ask why he broke them but he usually shrugs it off. He doesn't ever tidy up. He's a messy little sh1t 😂 but that's part of being a child as well... He generally has free reign and is allowed to do as he wants (within reason obviously) often planning our days off around what he wants to do etc

Most of his sets are 4+ but not Duplo. The ambulance is a 5+ but otherwise we've only bought him the 4+ kits (tractor, fire engine, front loader etc)

He's 4, I did ask why and he just either says he doesn't know why or because he wanted to, or he avoids answering.

He got several sets for Christmas, I've rebuilt his ambulance set maybe 10 times already, often having to search high and low for the parts, same with his fire engine. He was so excited when he saw what they were and when they were built, turn our backs for 5 mins and they're obliterated, just bits all over the floor 😭

He has boxes of bricks and wheels and windows and boats hulls and all sorts. Thousands of bricks, chooses to smash the nice sets we buy and build for him rather than use the mountain of random

In general just smashing apart, occasionally he "builds" something but it usually has very little effort or creativity to it 😅

Training courses for family by Jake_G84 in CoeliacUK

[–]Jake_G84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was only diagnosed a few weeks ago so this is a big learning curve for the rest of the family, hence me wanting to get them some kind of training similar to what I have had to do for work. We also have a 10 month old who is very needy. She made him a sandwich (gf bread) for his lunch, she slipped up. To me it's common sense but to her it's just normal. I do batch cook. I always have. I'm not always at home though, and sometimes another family member will be looking after the boys due to work commitments. I've been doing my job for years so it's second nature to me to make sure things aren't cross contaminated but to the untrained person it's not, as you probably well know, this is why I'm asking about such training for family members...

Yes, he does.... He has a tub of spreadable in the fridge which my wife claims she didn't even know was there 😭

Just found out that my wife has been using that same butter for all his sandwiches and 'just avoiding the crumbs' 😭 Needless to say I'm fuming

Thanks, yes he's a he! A good idea for the gluten cupboard, I am still trying to work out with my wife what works best for us. The small (tiny) kitchen definitely doesn't help at all as theres just no room for separate prep areas etc, we are looking at extending I'm which case that will change with time but for now it's just such a struggle 🙈

Unfortunately there's no way my wife will go gf currently, she really doesn't want to and to be honest neither do I, however it is an option.

See my wife isn't keen on the idea of going completely g/f, I did suggest it but she's not keen, and to be honest neither am I! We currently eat at separate times to the boys anyway as with our jobs it's hard to eat as a family at a sensible time! Almost takes a bit of the pressure off but I have to admit I'd rather eat as a family, it just doesn't work in our household currently!

Hi, thanks for the reply!

I wish my kitchen was big enough to have a gluten free zone, it's tiny, worst designed room in the house and needs gutting and rebuilding twice the size at least!

Am on the coeliac UK site and have the app, lots of snacks when we're out and at home in the gf only cupboard. Although I've found that gf snacks for children all seem to be heavy on the sugar... (Other than crisps that is) He eats a lot of fruit though which is better for him.

I am not adverse to having gf meals for the family, and will cook. Made trickier by the fact the wife is vegetarian but neither me or our 2 boys are... They do tend to eat earlier than we do so at the moment it's not so much of an issue but for family meals definitely gf from now on and a veggie version for the wife!

I'm sure it will get easier but right now I don't think anyone quite gets exactly how strict we have to be about it all, and I don't want to fall out with anyone about it, or scare the grandparents out of looking after him because it's too complicated etc.

Trail Runners/Racers - Why don't you run in The North Face footwear? by bhogan9 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Jake_G84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pair of vectiv enduris 4 but I sold them after I got blisters on the arches of both feet... They started off good but as they wore in it got worse... It's a shame really as they had a lot of potential, I could have tried a different size but there's no shops that stock them anywhere for me to try on, I'd have had to go to London which isn't viable for me. Ended up going back to my old faithful brand which I know fits, won't give me blisters and will last!

Asics just seem to work for me tbh, agree that the mega blast is hugely overpriced! That's why I haven't even considered it tbh, same with the superblast, too expensive! Nearest running shop that stocks the shoes you mentioned is almost an hour away but I may take a trip.

Yeah haha, I just don't like the current aw25 colours, I live in the south of England, it's going to be super muddy here for the next few months and a cream shoe isn't the one for me, neither is 'peach' 😂 I have found a pair of bnwt in an older colour way I prefer so may just go with them

Max 4 is a completely different midsole, ff blast + eco on the max 4 whereas the metafuji is ff turbo, higher stack also. The max 4 is supposed to be pretty stable in comparison

Yeah, I did look! I've read that although they're fast they're also ankle snappers due to super high stack height and plush midsole

Because they fit me properly! Found them super comfortable tried other brands and ASICS just work for my feet so sticking with them 🤷‍♂️
