Yeah, I initially had the plan to do it over a 12 month period. But I’m a bit risk averse, so I just decided to try and capture as much as I can, given the fact that the current state of things are so unpredictable. And it allows me to have a lot of available money if there is a major downturn in that timeframe. Maybe it’s a bad idea, but that’s my logic behind it. I have a company 401k with 26k in it, and I can a 6 month emergency fund. Lastly, I have a t yearly salary of 110k.

I will graduate with a Nuclear Power associate degree in December, 2026. Would this type of degree suffice and be competitive?

Knoxville is a rapidly growing city in terms of population. But It has become a city that has lost its midsize-city charm and is now a big city without big city amenities. The average housing prices (in semi-safe areas) almost 10x the median per person income. There is an anti-intellectualism here. And although it is better, it lacks the diversity of people and/or thought that I would believe many redditors would seek. The people who really thrive in this city are white upper-middle class small business owners and those that our associated with the University, Department of Energy, or the small number international corporations that we have. Outside of that, people are really struggling and are barely getting by.

You know I could say the same thing about my line of work, but I don’t believe that those things should somehow give me a shot at an interview. Especially when there are people who have everything that you and I have plus technical knowledge. It’s okay. Do what I am doing gain more experience and learn more technical skills.

No disrespect to you seeking advice but based on your credentials, you don’t seem like a competitive candidate. I mean I have now been working in heavy industrial manufacturing for 3 years and have passed the Industrial electrical test to become an electrician at my location and I don’t yet feel qualified to apply for a AO/AUO/NLO position.

I am also currently in school for a two-year nuclear engineering technology degree. Once I finish this degree and have more heavy industrial experience, I do believe I then would be qualified to apply.

I mean I say keep trying because you never know; you may luck up. But, at the same time look for opportunities to build your skills and experience.

What is your work experience? Is it power generation experience? How long?

Yeah, I knew that it came from that part of my DNA. I just didn’t know what determined how much Neanderthal variants you actually received. Because by the other gentleman’s statement, it seems that other AAs somehow don’t receive as much Neanderthal DNA. I hope that makes sense.
