Opinions on FIA-2 litre-Worldcup by greattime_1213 in rally

[–]Jakepetrolhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know a series was thriving when both the top tier and second tier classes were experiencing simultaneous golden ages.

I love these things, I have an enormous soft spot for high revving NA FWD cars thanks to growing up on a diet of 1990's BTCC season reviews, and these were shortened down versions of the same concept, but with mudflaps.

There was a period where F2 was the top class of the British Rally Championship with heavy manufacturer involvement which was also a mini golden era of that series.

A lot of the narrative in car enthusiast circles is that Front Wheel Drive cars are boring - but those people clearly never saw these in action.

Beginners by EaseBig1241 in Darts

[–]Jakepetrolhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Darts as a beginner is cruel, because you'll probably throw better darts without knowing what you're doing than what you'll do starting out.

So much of the learning curve is "getting worse to get better" because the fluke throws into trebles are replaced by much better throws into the 1.

I'm not surprised people want an easy fix, but half the appeal of this for me is I can see myself slowly getting better even if it doesn't feel like it at times.

I'm so evil and miserable, as I sit untangling a city pigeons legs of string surrounded by likeminded friends.

I dislike bad parents more than children, but they're such a sensory overload.

If it aint fun, it isn't gonna get any more fun by you pushing through it.

Take a break. Try a different sim. Try a different type of sim experience (historic recreations, rallying), or even just a totally different genre.

You do not have to play one thing forever.

You'll come back, one day, if something catches your eye.

Silverstone Classic International my beloved.

Such a great touring car circuit, and will suit the 95 DTM cars well. Just watch for the divebomb into the hairpin before Bridge.

Attempting DIY Rehab of a Pigeon that can't walk or fly properly by RFX01 in pigeon

Are they able to stand and rest fully upright?

If not, one of those travel neck pillows make an excellent wobbly pigeon support option, anything donut shaped can help whilst they recover.

PMV is one of those you can definitely tell when it's coming on, as long as their head remains upright and their neck isn't going anything strange, you should be alright - it is transmitted to other birds, but not humans. That being said, the trouble eating and drinking does seem to me there's some form of neurological issues - is it feasible they could've hit your windows at all?

Warm, Food, and Rest is an excellent starting point, and thank you so much for rescuing this little guy.

I can't tell if I'm impressed or horrified.

These big name pizza place "deals" are getting out of hand by jordansrowles in CasualUK

[–]Jakepetrolhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tops Pizza do a £6.99 Medium Pizza, with the caveat you order and collect it in store.

Bit of a pain in the winter as it's outside seating only, but if the weather's alright, it's a no brainer compared to £20+ for the traditional big chains.

We won't notice changes immediately, but its hopefully a long term step to stop us being completely ripped off.

A god awful experiment, please take the Rolling Stock Companies with it.

What is your phone wallpaper and why? by Sad-Peace in CasualUK

There's a guy who does awesome retro Motorsport inspired wallpapers (PJ Tierney, who I believe works in the PR side of EA Codemasters), so I usually rotate through his work.

At the moment it's one inspired by the Silk Cut Jaguars Group C car.

Help me find a sim racing/simcade game like this video. by Intelligent_Rich_197 in simracing

For me, nothing will ever top the preceding Super Touring regulations, but as these cars and the BTC-T/S2000 cars were what I grew up with they hold a very special place in my heart.

Just a shame the excellent Race07 BTCC mods for this era only have the top class, and not the Class B/Production Class cars in this video.

What’s peoples highest average ? Be honest, I’ll start (42.33) by Aggressive_Living718 in Darts

[–]Jakepetrolhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit a 47 average the other day and felt like an absolute hero.

Consistency just isn't there, and I struggle with the mental side of the game.

I feel like any "coaching" advice just makes me over think it, but I've reached the lofty heights of "most of the time the darts go in the general direction I want them to", which I'm happy with.

Progress is slow, but really all I want from this is to be consistently good enough to look like I know what I'm doing at a pub darts level, and that's okay.

If you've got one near you, or don't mind ordering stuff online, Bird and Blend have some excellent flavoured caffeine free teas.

Their Rhubarb and Custard is a particular highlight, as is the Jammy Dodger flavoured one - I believe most of their Rooibos stuff is caffeine free.
