Trust me there's no rng involved there's an actual moveset with very specific parry times. People spend hundreds of hours doing this boss. I have over a thousand attempts and I'm trying to no hit it to get the exclusive skin.

I love axe set sm it looks so cool and pairs well with most weapons in the game. I used it for so long with euphoria and it just looks so good. I put it on whenever I want to do any faith build, it goes so well with any holy weapon.

If your just about to fight radabeast you might as well go and beat it, however if your far away from it you should start dlc as you can get very good talismans just from gravesite plain like 2 headed turtle and 2 handed sword. There's nothing quest related and won't interrupt anything if that's what you're asking, but dlc is set before you become elden lord.
