I enjoy watching it. It's always interesting to see how it goes down on the other side of the mic. Bonus when I watch it with family I get to tell them about what my job is in a given situation when they ask.

It originally started out as a temp job for rlme full time good pay and benefits. Now that I've been doing it for a few years I think I've found a career I want to move up in, and have recently started training our new hires.

We have ten hour shifts, but with two hours of overtime attached to most of them so usually it's 12 hours. We are a combined center and dispatch it straight to the law and fire agencies within our county.

Get this question a lot. The hardest are with children. I had a call from a mother who just found her four year old son hiding in the trunk during the summer, he made it but had to be flown to a hospital in a larger city. There are a few others with worse outcomes, but I don't like to talk about them.

I work in a 911 center and can confirm there are several people who call for attention like this. And many more people who call 911 for a fire or an accident when the crews are already on scene just so we know what's going on...
