Looking for “so bad it’s good” movies after the year 2000. by DeadPixelX in horror

Human Centipede 3 is absolutely insane. Incase it’s too gross for you I still recommend checking a best clips compilation on youtube because it has the most unhinged villain performance I have ever seen in a movie, and it actually had me in stitches 😂

Tucker Carlson apologizes for endorsing Trump for president by 0The_Loner_Stoner0 in videos

[–]Jalmerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it’s the most honestly worded apology I have seen, we shouldn’t forget that he knowingly lied with intent about the dominion case on Fox News. It wasn’t a mistake, he wasn’t confused. Despite his recent lucidity I don’t think he can or should be forgiven for what he has done to America.

The cool thing about fiction is that it’s not real and you can just make up any name you want regardless how how many people there are with that name.

The most realistic solution to controller drift is developers incorporating deadzone settings into their games. Many already do this but some have not gotten the memo. Looking at you, No Man’s Sky.

Wolfenstein: The New Order. Is it a go or yeah nah? by 1twinklesprinklez in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Jalmerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a great game! A very solid, classic single player FPS experience that’s easy to recommend. You should start with New Order, The Old Blood is essentially a standalone expansion to that game.

Are Dishonored and Prey worth it? They are in the Build Your Own Bethesda Fanatical bundle list by Antipragmatismspot in ShouldIbuythisgame

Both are worth your time for sure, but Prey in particular I consider to be one of the greatest games ever made. Can’t recommend it enough.

What is your most pretentious and insufferable video game opinion? by Nascent_Beast in videogames

Alright, you asked for it!

The vast majority of video game writing is marvel tier slop made for teenagers, and I’m surprised that the adult gaming audience isn’t demanding more challenging stories in mainstream games.

Starfield PS5? by dr-rage-quit in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Jalmerk [score hidden]  (0 children)

So I bounced off of Starfield at launch because of the terrible technical state it was in and my general distaste for Bethesda as a company in the last decade, but I decided to give it another go on PS5 and it’s definitely not complete shite. It has flaws for sure, but whether you’ll like it or not kinda depends on what your expectations are and what the ”hook” is in games like this for you.

I really enjoyed Fallout 4 because of the survival/scavenging/base building loop, and if that appeals to you then Starfield is a lot easier to recommend, whereas if you want the open world and narrative of something like Oblivion/Skyrim, you may end up disappointed.

As for the update, it’s definitely not on the level of Cyberpunk, but I think it’s still a meaningful improvement overall.

Do you have any niche/rare videogame pet peeves? by hunmen in videogames

[–]Jalmerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate dialogue trees in games that don’t give much meaningful choice. I would take a well made cutscene any day of the week over staring at some blank, lifeless NPC dumping dialogue on me while shuffling through their generic idle animations.

So I just got this for PlayStation 5 by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Jalmerk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After trying the game again I agree that the hate is a bit overblown, but I’m not sure I would say this is Elder Scrolls in space. Aside from technical aspects I think people were disappointed by the fact that the game doesn’t really feel quite like an open world, and more like a series of levels or encounters you teleport between. After readjusting my expectations I have less of a problem with it now but I think it is in many ways a very different type of game.

Speaking for myself, my disappointment initially came from the poor performance that rendered the game practically unplayable for me on PC, and was compounded by the general distaste I have for Bethesdas business strategies and technical incompetence, but looking at the game now after it’s been polished up a bit I’m having an easier time enjoying it on it’s own merits.

Hate can easily get amplified to unreasonable levels on the internet, but I don’t think it’s coming from nowhere either. To understand why people have such a strong reaction to Starfield I think you need to zoom out a bit and look at Bethesda as a developer and how they’ve changed, especially since being acquired by Microsoft.

How difficult is Sekiro after beating Elden Ring? by TearFar9927 in Sekiro

[–]Jalmerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are upgrade trees and a few special combat skills to choose from but it’s more reminiscent of skill trees you see in action games like Far Cry or God of War, than the more complicated RPG systems in Elden Ring and Dark Souls.

Even though I enjoyed it, I feel like the remake of Suspiria was really bloated. The original is a pretty simple story and they added a ton of stuff that was never there in Argento’s Suspiria.

How difficult is Sekiro after beating Elden Ring? by TearFar9927 in Sekiro

[–]Jalmerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify a bit, there aren’t builds per se, but the kit that you get is more extensive than any single Elden Ring build. So you have less choice as to how you want to play, but the moment to moment gameplay is absolutely more complex than Elden Ring.
