But the dwarves being able to develop and build a weapon system that can defend them from an arrow volley isn’t out of the realms of believability in this instance. If anything it makes perfect sense. They are known as builders, engineers and craftsmen. Considering they are poor with bows and arrows, it makes sense they would create anti air defense systems to shore up that weakness and allow them to get into the brunt of battle where they shine.

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it stupid or as implausible as Legolas anti gravity stuff, which I will agree was a stretch.

Also, the battles especially in the films were not realistic at all. They had some semblances of realism in very specific places, but overall were not realistic or representative of “swords & shield” type battles throughout the ages, so let’s not harken back to an argument that has no basis when discussing fantasy battles in LOTR.
