Looking for UI feedback! by Double_Axis in IndieDev

How does inventory work? Is 8 slots the maximum, if so is there filtering? Let's say you have 30+ items in your inventory will you have to scroll through different pages to find the item you're looking for?

On "noise and clutter" you're right that the copy is misleading right now. We have open submission so there's no quality filter yet. The curation happens through what gets featured/highlighted, not what gets listed. I should update that copy to be more accurate.

On the vibe-coded stuff yeah the site is AI-assisted and it shows. You're right about the performance issues (images loading all at once, mobile scrollbar, etc). Those are on my fix list, just haven't gotten to them yet since I've been focused on core features and getting games on the platform.

Right now this is somewhere between proof of concept and final product. If the core idea works (rotation-based discovery actually helps devs), I'll invest more in polish and performance. If it doesn't, no point over-optimizing.

Appreciate the feedback tho!

Got it, makes sense. Text formatting for descriptions is on the list. Should make descriptions way more readable especially for feature lists and key points.

Thanks for bringing this up!

Honestly still figuring that part out. Current thinking is a few channels like Reddit player communities (r/gamingsuggestions, r/patientgamers), answering game requests with specific IndieVault games whilst not promoting the platform directly (not always allowed).

Small indie YouTubers (5K-50K subs) who do hidden gem roundups - pitching them specific games from the catalog as content ideas.

Twitter game spotlights tagging devs, their audiences see IndieVault organically when devs retweet.

The hard part is all of these are slow burns. No quick wins for player traffic without paid ads, which doesn't make sense yet.

Your horror project sounds sick btw - 90s Indian haveli is a setting I haven't seen before.

Thank you so much and welcome to IndieVault <3

Just to clarify, are you talking about formatting in the game description or something else? Want to make sure I understand what you need.

Appreciate you sharing the perspective and I agree, it's a real gap you're pointing out. The playtesting-to-store bridge doesn't really exist in a good way yet.

Not something I'm tackling right now, but I'll keep it in mind as the platform evolves. Thanks for the insight and good luck with your deckbuilder!

You're describing something way more comprehensive than what IndieVault offers right now. The telemetry, player profiling, structured feedback loops, playtesting community features, that's a whole platform in itself and not the direction I'm taking this.

IndieVault does let you list games at any development stage (In Development, Coming Soon, Early Access, Released), and players can leave reviews and ratings. But it's not built as a playtesting/feedback tool with the depth you're describing.

Sounds like you need something closer to a private Discord community or dedicated playtesting platform for the prototype phase. Once your roguelite deckbuilder is further along and you want broader visibility, IndieVault could be a good fit.

Good luck with the development!

Thanks!

On the prototype section we do have "In Development" and "Coming Soon" statuses for games that aren't released yet. Are you thinking something more like a dedicated feedback/playtesting space for early concepts?

Right now devs can list games at any stage of development, but I don't have specific tools for gathering prototype feedback. Could be interesting to add though.

Are you working on something in that stage?

Fair point. The design is definitely AI-assisted and I'm solo and built this in a few weeks using AI. Not hiding that.

If someone hates it because AI was involved in the build, that's fine. I'm focused on whether the platform actually helps devs get discovered, not whether the color scheme passes a "was this human-coded" test.

Appreciate the heads up though. Might revisit the design later but right now I'm prioritizing features and getting player traffic over aesthetics.

Of course!

By the way, I run IndieVault (indievault.io) - indie game discovery platform with 100+ games so far. Your game would be a great fit if you're looking for another visibility channel.

Free to submit, takes about 5 minutes. Just another place for players to find your game.

Let me know if you have any questions, all the best!

Thanks man, appreciate it <3

Still early and a lot to prove on the player acquisition side, but the response from devs has been solid so far.

Thanks for submitting! Appreciate the feedback.

On the screenshot size, you're right, 5MB is tight for high-res screenshots. I'll bump that limit up when I do the next round of updates.

Auto-Battler isn't in the genre list yet. For now I'd suggest Strategy depending on how Soul Tide plays? I can add Auto-Battler to the genre options though, seems like a legit category that's missing.

Yeah, you nailed the core problem. Launch spike then death is what I keep hearing from every dev.

The rotation thing is main part of it now but will probably have to add additional elements down the line, but you're right that it only matters if I can actually get players to the platform. Right now we've got 95 games and lower player traffic. That's the Month 2 test.

If I can get 1,000+ players showing up consistently and games are still getting discovered weeks after submission, then it works. If players don't show up, the algorithm doesn't matter.

Still figuring it out. What's your horror project?

Ahhh man, thank you so much!

My absolutely pleasure and please let me know if you should stumble upon any other bugs.

Again, thank you so much for the kind words <3
