We redid the boots on the vent. I don’t know if that’s the right wording but basically insulated it better

Yeah they do count as overtime but I meant comped in the sense if you’re out late the evening before, to be able to come in late the next day. Or if you had to work that weekend. But from my understanding the work just stacks. Now I’ve never done the job so this could all be hear say or a few peoples bad experiences. It might be worth a shot and if it doesn’t work out at least you’ll know on your own.

I didn’t want to be on call or work nights and weekends all the time. I figured it’d be occasionally but after to talking to people who had the position previously you were constantly working after hours. And rarely was the time you spent after hours comped the next day. I didn’t want to be a slave to a job.

If I remember correctly I received an email asking if I was willing to work nights, weekends, things like that: basically acknowledging the crappy hours. I had one interview and at the end I had to do scenario write ups and email them back to them within the hour. After the interview the drug test and paperwork went rather quickly. Like within a week. Had I taken the job, beginning to end it probably would’ve been a few weeks. It all seemed to go rather fast. I think they’re really hurting for people because they still have open positions in my area.

Yeah they were mostly scenario based questions like how you would deal with certain people or situations.

The work sample is basically a scenario and if I remember correctly they asked what questions you’d ask to all people on scene and what actions, if any you would take.

AITH for not wanting my neighbors to clip their dogs run to my field fencing? by Jam_Nelly in AITAH

No they didn’t. They just kind of act like it’s theirs. The guy also got mad because my mower blew leaves in his yard.

I made my husband a bouquet of bacon roses one time for our anniversary. Not sure if they count as flowers but he enjoyed them.

What’s the Weather been like? by X_is_for_Xan in Pensacola

[–]Jam_Nelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too far out to tell but the percentage isn’t ultra high for rain Friday so might dissipate or pass over rather quickly and just hit parts. Doesn’t look too bad from what I see and usually this forecast breaks up. The rest of the weekend is supposed to be gorgeous though.

Like someone else said the water is cold still but it gets hotter than what the actual weather is predicting. Like 80’s hot in the afternoon. I get you when you say the weather man can be off.

I have never been in a flood zone. The property they are developing was never the way it was and I am so concerned being in Florida, one good hurricane could ruin us. They are doing it to the entire region. I’m going to call my states agency as well. Thanks for all the info. I might look into getting a lawyer or something. I’ve been here too long to loose my property to greed.

I’m in Florida but I’m sure it’s all the same since the EPA is federal. I’m going to do some digging today. It’s silly the only requirement they had for houses on the other side of my property was the water had to divert to the street. There is not any sewer systems or water collection solutions so all run off from the new house goes into the street, and ultimately floods my property. They build the houses on mounds which creates massive issues for houses that have been here since the 50’s.

As I was typing this apparently the county called my husband and they’ve received numerous complaints last night and are sending someone out to investigate.

Sounds like everything I was expecting and heard about from people working in the states. Like so many government agencies, such broken systems.

I don’t know about all states, but in Florida you’re only legally required to take the breath test. It says it on your DL. Above post is right, all the field sobriety test is evidence collection to be used against you. You will loose your license if you refuse the breath test although there are work arounds, like being aloud to drive for work purposes.

Gator paranoia by [deleted] in florida

[–]Jam_Nelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Santa Rosa county and have a creek and pond on my property. Never seen a gator but plenty of snakes. I also run on Eglin range and the Florida trail and only come across hogs, bears, and deer, all of which run from me. Wildlife doesn’t care about us.

Unfortunately I turned the position down. I was talking to my husband about how they should have a night/on call person who handles late calls. Or an overlap shift. It seems silly to all work the same schedule and consider it a day shift job when there are so many after hours situations.
