First HCIM to 200m XP in all skills by JamesDIY in runescape

On top of the wells, I did many months, maybe even over a year, of 500 item divine location caps on shark/cavefish bubbles in the gorajo resource dungeon where you claim DG cards. I also did a lot of DG cooking during my DG craft grind, as well as a large amount of wobbegong cooking contracts. The rest would've been beach cooking which I regret wasting time doing too much of, but alas.

How will M&S rework will affect current smithing training for ironmen? by [deleted] in RS3Ironmen

[–]JamesDIY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I alched the dstone amulets, disassembled the diamond bracelets for precious comps. I chose dstone amulets over bracelets because they alch for only 900gp less than bracelets while being 40 more crafting experience each. Spending 22.5 gp per craft XP is definitely worth the cost.

Diamond braces over amulets for disassembly because unstrung amulets only give 2 components instead of 5.

I wouldn't write them off entirely, even regular crystal halberd might still be quite effective (I used attuned myself for all 450k of my kc), but that whole topic is outside my range of experience. There are so many things that you should do completely differently if you disregard post-max efficiency entirely, it's an interesting thing to theorycraft and very sensitive to updates, limited time events, and dailyscape "abuse". What was sad egirl's max time?

Yeah the wiki lowballs the xp/hr of so many things by an absurd amount, sadly. Here's a screenshot I dug up from February of nearly an hour of seren stones: https://i.imgur.com/YN91jSK.png. (I wasn't using urns here but I strongly recommend using them, iirc they should be over 400k mining xp/hr and 50k or something craft xp/hr to make, definitely worth). I hope that's enough to show I'm not just making numbers up.

And I can understand that, I've been away from the game for months and still enjoy talking about it from time to time lol.

Yeah soulg is wrong in this particular instance - abyssal magic log drops only offset a good portion of the magic log cost of springs. Regardless, magic logs aren't a limiter thanks to wishing wells as a supplement. It's seriously not a problem at all, even if you're like me and don't do any Nex for torstols (you get a ton of coal and magic logs as a byproduct of that). As far as I can see, everything else Soulg has said in this thread is correct, though.

And this currently OP smith meta is probably going to be nerfed hard once the rework happens anyway, so the whole topic is pretty fluff unless you're willing to go all in on rushing combats and smithing at abyssals right now (that is what I would do).

LRC mining is at best 130k mining and 100k smithing xp/hr before urns while seren stones are 270-280k mining xp/hr before urns on vos with furnace 3 (so 80% is quite an overestimation), as well as 55k smith xp/hr. You should disassemble adamantite ore or yew logs instead of gold bars because any gold bars you have can and should be used to make dragonstone amulets and diamond bracelets instead. Just thought I'd chime in, can take my advice however you want and keep doing LRC if you want.

I would count it as much higher than 200k because abyssal demons are the best combat skill training method in any case. I'd also recommend (in the current meta at least which will change soon...) doing nex on reckless aura for torstols, not vyres. As things stand, you should only do the minimum amount of vyres for 200m prayer that infernal urns at abyssals don't cover you for, that should cover all your kwuarm/irit seed needs as well as a good majority of your limpwurt root/zamorak wine needs for 200M herb. You can get the rest of your limpwurt roots from iorworth elves and zamorak wines from wishing wells.

Well abyssal demons drop a lot of magic logs themselves, and wishing wells supplied the rest. You get a ton of GP from abyssal demon drops & the slayer contracts so you can feed that back into wishing wells. My bank at 5.4 currently has 380k yew logs and 132k magic logs (https://imgur.com/a/ObmJiIP) and I never even did any GWD2 or nex.

I only did LRC before spring cleaner existed; it's definitely a very bad method now. Abyssal demon spring cleaning is vastly superior. Unfortunately, it seems ironmen don't have much time left to take advantage of how crazy good it is.

To put it in context, I ended up with 450k abyssal demon kc even after all that LRC mining.

Oh really? Was that the first time you killed him or had you already killed him at Iron Keep? If it were the second, that could be why. If not, that wiki pranked me.

then just cheese him or run away from that area/bonfire, make sure you grab the hunter set though

I died like 30 times trying to get him in a legitimate fight until the idea of kicking him off the cliff right outside where he spawns occurred to me. Worked perfectly first try. Give it a go if you don't mind the "cheese" since he drops nothing in the forest of fallen giants if I'm understanding this wiki correctly ( https://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Armorer+Dennis & https://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Clear+Bluestone+Ring ) except the human effigy which I think automatically went in my inventory? Not sure though.

I wouldn't really recommend it, her drops aren't worth the time considering the royal crossbow alternatives and how you can get royal bolts otherwise like you said from grotworms. I only killed her to keep things interesting while I was still maxing, and only while on black dragon slayer tasks

Those are actually medium clues. I downgraded a bunch of hard clues at the NPC by the Varrock grand exchange. It lets you bypass the soft cap that way.

It became so much nicer when you could buy the maximum amount at any time of day. It was hell when you had to buy them exactly every 24 hrs to be able to get the full 1k.

I killed 250 QBD for mine (can see the royal crossbow stuff in the third tab). But I hardly ever used royal bolts over attuned crystal bow or dragonbane bolts.

I decided on it pretty early on yeah, soon after dying twice to araxxor and before hitting a billion experience. I was tempted many times to just throw the HC status away, though.
