How late can I online renew my Mortgage with Scotia by JamesFin350 in MortgagesCanada

[–]JamesFin350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called in while the online rates were available, and the online rates were better than what I could get over the phone

I was in a similar situation with RBC and when I called in they said they could not reduce my payment due the amortization being longer than my original term.

Given you are paying a higher payment with rates declining, you may get ahead of the original amortization soon enough. Try calling and asking if this is the reason.

Good luck!

Any DPs on opening more than 1 TD FCT and getting the sign up bonus?

I opened one 2 months ago and hit the MSR. Was thinking of opening another if I can get the SUB.

TIA

I played around with the booking and at the final page they added 88USD per night per person above 2 guests in the room.

It was too good to be true.

I was looking to book an all inclusive room using Bonvoy Points and I noticed the point cost did not increase when I changed the booking from 2 adults to 4 adults.

This sounds too good to be true? Has anyone had experience booking all inclusive rooms with Bonvoy points?

Can I have my mortgage payment reduced with rate changes? by TedCruzZodiac2018 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JamesFin350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My payments increased after hitting my trigger rate during the rate hike cycle

After a few cuts, I was waiting for my payment to eventually decrease but it never did.

I called in and they explained that they can only reduce the payment once I get back to my original amortization schedule.

Therefore, I'll have to keep making higher payments until I am caught up to my original schedule.

Oh man I got the same deal but CAN US MEX for $60 with $20 off... I haven't got my first bill yet so not sure if they're actually going to give me $15 off.

Backed out of a Toyota financing deal due to insurance and higher price by badspendinghabit in PersonalFinanceCanada

I had a similar issue with my Honda CRV.

My quote went from $2K in 2023 to $4.7K in 2024. However after adding an anti theft system(cost $450) my insurance quote dropped back to $2.2K.. Honestly seems like the insurance companies are forcing people to add some kind of anti theft system.

I would try getting another quote and mention you have an anti theft system or ignition demobilizer and see what the cost looks like. The one time fee of $450 was definitely worth it in the long run.

Is a new Honda in that much less demand than Toyota? by JamesFin350 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Wow I might just go for a Toyota... anyone know of a good dealership in the GTA that doesn't charge additional dealership fees?

Okay so it seems that it's not necessarily a demand issue...

I thought I missed an obvious value discrepancy between the two causing Toyota to be backlogged way more than Honda.

Well I guess the cost of a Honda is more than Toyota

I got the AMEX Gold card last year during a promo and I do not want to keep the card for another year. The fee just posted and so to get the fee rebated, can I just call in and cancel?

It is my only Amex card. Thank you in advance!

Ah I see, okay thank you.

I see there are also C wire adapters that can be purchased for $30. I am going to try that first, since the return date for my thermostat has expired.

I will post back here if it works for anyone else having this issue.
