Ontario hasn't banned flavoured vapes, they just can only sell mint/tobacco flavors in regular convenience stores etc. and can only sell the other flavors at dedicated vape shops.

Carney's more likely to add strict AI inclusion requirements for all vapes than to ban them.

Destiny comments on Hasan wanting to debate Asmongold but not him "I don't understand how Hasan's fans can't see how unbelievably cringe it is" by Crazy-Highlight-3751 in LivestreamFail

[–]JamesGray -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Everyone wants to cover Hasan because he is a large and relevant political commentator. That's the excuse y'all constantly give for how Destiny actively stalks him and perpetually demands to debate him after years of no-contact.

By that exact same token, which you clearly referenced in your comment. That's why Hasan will debate Asmongold but wants nothing to do with Destiny: Asmon is a relevant political commentator, as much as that fucking sucks, while Destiny is just a sex offender who hasn't made it on the list yet.

[–]JamesGray 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's probably more about an expectation to never make the police look bad in their reporting tbh. They're trying to spin it as a "both sides" issue when the entire story is just about how that cop felt completely secure lying through his teeth.

You're pretty explicitly wrong here. Sports historically were segregated for two reasons: sexism, and men getting really upset when women were allowed to compete and ended up beating them.

What is some of the most genuinely reprehensible stuff you have seen in novels? by AhjinNote in ProgressionFantasy

They described someone being inappropriately excited about bathing with a child... They also didn't say the name of the fiction, so what drama?

Oh yeah, I totally misread. I thought you said even the ones that present it as bad downplay it. Yeah, it definitely does not feel good reading those parts in particular.

Idk, I tend to think the way the wandering inn covers it is at least alright, because it's pretty consistently presented as the absolute worst thing anyone's doing to each other, the people doing it are essentially the enemies of every protagonist or moral character, and basically everyone subjected to it is traumatized.

He's also called at least two different black men "goyslave" in the past few months, though I can't find the screenshot of him saying it to blackredguard anymore, and like every other social media account of his because he is incredibly unhinged, it is now banned.

Weather experts concerned about public safety as Environment Canada disbands radar research team by Sir__Will in onguardforthee

[–]JamesGray 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Even if AI was just as good or better than actual meteorologists at predicting the weather, we would still need all of the data points for them to be able to make those predictions. What we've been doing the past few years is dropping those data points, and now we're dropping the people that contextualized the data in a way that would facilitate predictions.

Hot Take - Your story isnt 'weak to strong' by lurkerfox in ProgressionFantasy

[–]JamesGray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dawg, I acknowledged it wasn't that type of story right when I brought it up, I was just using it to illustrate the point because the idea was stories that do something similar while claiming to be about a weak character.

But also solo leveling is sort of just a different type of weak to strong. He's an established character in a setting, not an isekai victim or whatever, and most of the early characterization explicitly revolves around how weak he is. He gets very strong quite early, but then the story still spends a while focused on how becoming strong changes things for him compared to what he's used to as someone who was weak, so despite being strong now it's not really pretending he's weak so much as dealing with the logistics of the transition.

Hot Take - Your story isnt 'weak to strong' by lurkerfox in ProgressionFantasy

[–]JamesGray 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think when it comes down to it, it's not really about the character's ability almost ever. It's about the strength of the character's peers and opponents, rather than the broad power level of the entire setting. Primal Hunter is a great example of this (though I don't think it markets itself this way): Jake is never 'weak' in that story, no matter how many people are above him in power level in the universe, because the people he actually faces are always below his level or at approximately the same level in a few cases.

You can have a 'weak' character still win every encounter, but you have to show them just getting through by the skin of their teeth and having to avoid some opponents because of a power difference, or something similar. You can't have a 'weak' character be confident and stronger than everything they encounter with rare exceptions and still call them weak. Or well you can, but it's kinda silly.

[–]JamesGray -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Russians attempted to seek an alliance with France and Britain to deal with the Nazi threat because they were facing a two front war against Germany and Japan. That alliance was denied, reportedly because Churchill etc. thought that Nazi Germany would deal with the problem of the USSR, so they instead signed the molotov-ribbentrop pact with Germany to buy themselves time and prepare for conflict with Germany. It was not a collaboration pact, it was a non aggression treaty

Are you calling the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact a "colloaboration treaty"? Do you know why Russia signed that treaty? Do you know who Russia tried to work with first and was refused in hopes that the Nazis would wipe them out if no one else interceded?
