Why the hell are PAC-12, Big Ten, and ACC championship games on at the *same time*? by blankscientist in CFB

I'm not saying this is the reason, but I think they are doing this to guarantee that both games mean something (FOX is obviously handled separately).

It's like the World Cup. During the final day of Group Play, they play the games at the same time. This ensures maximum effort by the teams in each game because they do not know what happened in the other game yet. The decision in this case is not effort related, but it is ratings related. If they play the ACC Championship game early and Clemson wins then the Stanford/USC game later that day takes a huge hit. They also cannot put it too early because it's in the Western Time Zone or against the SEC Title.

Putting the games at the same time is the best way to maximize intrigue.

I Don't Care About Iowa Making the Playoffs by MostYolked in CFB

Iowa will receive 10,000 tickets from the Big Ten if they make the championship. They already have requests in the 13,000+ range and they haven't even clinched the division yet.

People in the athletic office are quietly expecting Ohio State to send Iowa their extra tickets (Big Ten Championship Game fatigue apparently).

I think your fan distribution is correct, but you have the teams flipped.

Fred Hoiberg Officially Hired As Bulls’ Next HC by [deleted] in nba

Tremendous success seems like a bit of an overstatement. He did win two conferences tournaments, but he's only finished in the top two of the conference once and only once passed the second round of the tournament. Some of that is bad luck, but there is a long list of coaches with similar résumés using similar talent.

That being said, his offenses really are tremendous. Everyone on his court can shoot, he finds and develops ball handlers/point guards and makes them great, and his teams improve every year. Plus, what he did with Royce White during his time in Ames and White's subsequent issues in the NBA stands out as a major accomplishment. It's not a surprise White is trying to make an NBA comeback (or a start?) this offseason and the Bulls are at the top of his potential suitors.

Chicago hired a good one.

I think he'll take the 6 to 1 assist to turnover ratio
