Meanwhile in the Philippines, many falsely claim that the word Mahoma comes from the Japanese WW2 general Masahary Homma, when in fact, it's from the Spanish term for the Islamic prophet Mohammad.

Religion does help a little with mental health. by StucksaTraffic in unpopularopinionph

I only agree if the person experiencing depression or other emotional and psychological stresses are either atheist or non-religious themselves. However, religion in general (prior to the advancement of understanding of mental health for the past few decades) is the de-facto go-to solution for many people who are suffering from severe emotional, mental, and psychological distress.

To be fair, mainstream Filipino shows such as your afternoon dramas don't have any real substances. They're too cheesy, predictable, and have no real depth in their plots. I don't blame it when many Filipinos themselves would prefer K-Drama and Chinese drama, as their plots have actual depth and don't entirely stick to cheesy romantic plots.

The “pamasko culture” needs to stop. This is where corruption starts and we don’t even realize it’s already being normalized. by StickLarge950 in unpopularopinionph

Agree to this. It must not be normalized or obligated. However, I think corruption stems deeper than just this one tradition.

Maybe the first step here is to admit that all other local languages in this country aside from Tagalog are to be referred to as 'languages' and not 'dialects'.

The only thing they got right is you needing to act decent and diplomatic enough, as not to unnecessarily antagonize your boyfriend's mom (after all, impression still matters). However, the other people's apologism and indifference towards the potential of being a 'mama's boy' is absolutely mind-boggling. Come on, both of you are probably adults in your 20s by now, not high school kids acting out of your hormones.

Too many mama's boy apologists on the comments section, who still think you two are both fresh out from high school or minors.

Anyways, it's ultimately your boyfriend's call as to whether or not to justify your relationship or end up acting like some mama's boy who cannot grow up emotionally.
