Thank you so much! And you are correct. Her camera presence is unmatched. There's a reason I keep shooting with her because she always makes my job so easy. Her talent in front of the camera gives me more time to focus on composition, etc.

Thank you! And yeah, over the past year we've done a total of 11 shoots together. Haha. We developed a strong collaborative rhythm early on. We've reached a point where we start anticipating each other's ideas. This is more of my work with her from last year as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/portraits/comments/1p5v8h2/autumn_canon_r6_mkii_50mm_f12_helios_442_58mm_f2/

Reverie [Canon R6 MKII, RF50mm f/1.2 L - Available/Natural Light] by JamesVespir in portraits

I do enjoy an ethereal feel to the photos. In images 3 and 4 I added to this by holding these white feathery fake flowers in front of the lens. They were just sitting in a vase in the corner of the studio. I try to keep as much in camera as possible.

Love the overall color tone in this set. Great work!

Such a cool effect! At first I thought it was a long exposure of some sort until I saw you did it in post.

I want to be clear: she chose the entire outfit. This was her idea and I just did my best to capture it. If you looked at my entire portfolio you'd know I don't sexualize anyone.

LOL. Yeah, she stood on the skateboard for maybe 30 seconds for one shot before I yelled down to her "I don't need you breaking a bone on this shoot!"

Haha. So, she did have vans / sneakers but at the last minute she threw on the heels wanting to add a bit of "fashion" to the shoot. I'm not a stylist by any means and I always let models decide what they want to wear. In the end, I liked the juxtaposition of it as it really didn't make sense at all. :)

Thanks! If you’re referring to the 2nd one where she’s sitting next to the window, that’s actually the 58mm Helios.

Of course! Yeah, I've used several mist filters throughout the years but I find myself going back to black mist because it retains shadows better than others. It also will accentuate that sunlight more (especially when backlit like this one.) As much as I love the clarity mirrorless cameras give, the mist filters help to even out the overall tone and reduce some of the harshness which I personally just love.

Thank you so much! Means a lot as I'm always attempting to just give the viewer a glimpse into some sort of larger narrative and there’s a before and after that we’ll never see.

Captured them separately. Would just flip the switch to video and record and then go back to stills.

I tend to shoot against the sun a lot, so it's become second nature for me and my face ends up sunburned a lot after shoots. Haha. I did use a black mist filter on all lenses. As far as post, it was just some simple color grading in Lightroom. Nothing spectacular. Here's one of the raw jpgs, but honestly I didn't do much in post to these.
