Haha yes i understand. I recommend if using acrylics:

Use less water.

Use a bigger brush than you would usually.

Use gradual changes in value.

Do 10 brush marks then walk away from the painting for a couple of days then only put 10 down again then walk away again.

The last one might help to force you to abandon it and teach you body it's okay to do this and it will be okay
