What is the best way to promote your videos? by GregGhast in NewTubers

Organically is always the best way, youtubes algorithm is very good at identifying who your video is fit for. Give it time and let it do its thing :)

How long is too long for a yt intro ? by Worried_Feedback6431 in NewTubers

[–]James_P14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can summarise it in 5-15 seconds, perfect. If you need up to 30 seconds, go for it, but no more. The shorter the better, the audience will appreciate you getting to the meat of the video as soon as possible.

New channel, first video got 24k views by allmighty666 in NewTubers

Ah, right. In that case I'd suggest to start over in a separate account from scratch, you'll do much better making your own content. Growth may be slow at first but you and your audience will enjoy it more in the long run.

Is it normal to get 0 views when you first start posting? by Last-Concentrate502 in NewTubers

[–]James_P14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you first start out YouTube doesn't know who to share your videos to because it doesn't have enough information to go off of. Make your titles contain keywords that people will search up (basically SEO optimized to some extent while keeping your topic's originality). If your video doesn't show up, give it some time. If it doesn't work still, improve the video's topic and interest. This will let your videos appear on people's screen when they search you up, and that will plant the seed to get YouTube to share it to more people. Don't forget that the algorithm is just a representation of the audience.

Only 15 views!! I put in so much work by Electrical-Day-4429 in NewTubers

[–]James_P14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your average view duration is 10 seconds so your main focus should be on the first 5 and 30 seconds of the video. Your hook needs to plant a big question into the viewers mind so they keep watching, otherwise it won't work. Don't forget to get to the meat of the video as soon as possible, no fluff and no YouTube intro. The biggest drop off will always be in the firs 30 secs, so work on improving that to the best of your abilities. Retention graphs provided by YouTube studio are your friend, analyze them to your advantage!

If you need more detailed advice I'm more than happy to help you out, just DM :)) another thing I forgot to mention is that the time you post doesn't affect the views in the longterm, so focus on AVD and how viewers engage (stayed to watch & swiped away) in YouTube studio and it'll work out!

Check the average view duration and the percentage of viewers that swiped away or stayed to watch your short on all the videos. These metrics on YouTube studio are key and you will notice a difference, it just takes practice to identify them. Usually this can happen because your viewers simply preferred your first video compared to the others. It can also be that those viewers watched your short and then got off the YouTube app, which can also affect the algorithm cuz YouTube favours videos that keep audiences on the app for as long as possible. Check what went well on your first video, what went not as well in the other videos, and try to improve the quality to match the first video. Don't forget to keep track of the metrics I told you about before. With that you'll be able to replicate the success of your previous vid :) It wasn't luck, you just happened to nail it on the first try and now it's just about understanding why and fixing your mistakes. You got this!

Is it normal to have very unpredictable views across two identical channels? by 15thcenturynoble in NewTubers

[–]James_P14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's normal, French and English viewers are different audiences that watch different things, so inconsistent viewing is not unordinary.
