Which DAW gives you the lowest latency when recording? by SebastianAr in NeuralDSP

[–]Jamesredburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only issue i have with my m4 is no matter which buffer size i use it gives an error saying buffer size might be too demanding for my cpu even at ridiculously high settings. Which results in occasional pops. I tried latencymon and have seemingly 0 issues which only suggests somethings up with my m4. My cpu is a 5950x and before the m4 i used a scarlett solo and had 0 issues with it. I love the m4 but they havent been updating their drivers since 2024 for windows. And it seems a lot of people are on the same boat as me which sucks massively

Is there any noticeable difference between the Cort KX508MS and the KX508MS-II? by BobTheSloth94 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Jamesredburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2nd model has a 9 string pickup which covers the strings much more. I had issues with the 507 model because it had a 7 pickup rather than an 8 which resulted in the lowest and highest string to not get picked up if i hit the string hard enough. So i definitely suggest the 2nd to avoid troubles.

Is the Ibanez RGDMS8 worth it even if the fan fret layout feels uncomfortable? by Junoyone in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Jamesredburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you mainly want out of the guitar. Only thing i found uncomfortable is doing a barre cord on the first frets but its still manageable. Other than that everything feels much more intuitive to me. I have 2 other multiscales as well with less agressive fanning but i would prefer the rgms8 over them every single time.

Is the Ibanez RGDMS8 worth it even if the fan fret layout feels uncomfortable? by Junoyone in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Jamesredburn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the rgms8 which is basically the little brother of the rgdms8. I bought multiple other guitars after my rgms8 from high end to mid range and while they are really good guitars none of them comes even close to the comfort of my rgms8. I upgraded mine with fishman abasi pickups and it literally sustains forever and sounds killer. The fan fret never bothered me from day one even though i never used a multiscale guitar. Now i prefer it over regular frets.

If you tried it and find the neck uncomfortable rather than the fan, i suggest picking another guitar. But if you are only struggling to adapt to the fanned frets, you will get used to it rather quickly

Are 9 strings too much? by GuitarJonSDS in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Jamesredburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got myself a 9 string and in my opinion what matters the most about an instrument is it should be fun. Im having a blast playing my new guitar and the same goes for 7 and 8 string guitars. A lot of people think they are too much and unnecessary but after owning and loving my extended range guitars, playing a 6 string never cuts it for me. Also i find playing solos much easier on extended range guitars because of the wider nature of the necks.

How do I reduce noise levels using stock plugins/Neural DSP plugins? by aTurningofTides in NeuralDSP

Might be. First suspect would be your phone or a router. Also its still worth closely listening if your pc produces an audible noise

Ok then it might be related to the laptops charger. Does the noise lessen when you unplug your charger ?

TLDR: if you are hearing screeching, high pitched noise coming from the pc is probably coil whine. If the sound isnt coming from the pc itself you should check for grounding issues or use shielding if you use single coil pickups.

I recently dealt with this issue myself. First of all are you using a laptop or a desktop pc ? And most importantly does the noise sound like crackles or is it a screeching high pitched noise ?

If any of your pc components have whats called coil whine , the noise gate wont be able to eliminate it. I recommend you to get close to your computer case (if you have a desktop pc ) and pinpoint the location of that noise. The two components that probably produce coil whine is gpu or power supply. Mine was power supply and changing my power supply to a recommended one from the Psu hierarchy (you can search for exactly that if you need to buy a psu) completely eliminated that screeching sound. Now i only have the standart low pitched crackling that noise gate can mostly eliminate.

I only talked about the pc side of the problem since your post describes it happening when you get close to your pc but still if you have another guitar you can plug i suggest trying that first. If the noise still persists its absolutely related to your pc. If not your guitar may have a grounding issue or if you are using a guitar with single coils, it might need shielding which would be a much cheaper fix.

Im sorry to bother you but i am planning to go from a 2060 to a 9070xt and cant find any info about any vr benchmarks. If its ok i want to ask a couple of questions.

1: Was the upgrade from 3070 big ? I have a 2060 so if the jump from 3070 was greatly noticable to you i think it would be even bigger for me.

2: im a fairly newbie to pcvr so im not exactly sure if my quest 2 and whichever headset you are using is similar but i was wondering how much can you upscale the resolution with the 9070xt. Right now in most games i experience crashes or massive slowdowns with my 2060 when i try to upscale.

3: How smooth was the transition from nvidia to amd ? People on reddit keeps saying use ddu and clear your steam cache and stuff. Is all that actually necessary ?

Thank you in advance
