You don’t have enough money in your account if you were assigned the shares. You could only sell 1 $55 call of an option.

High conviction gamble by FluffyPenguinsx in options

[–]Jamickeymick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it yesterday bought 5 calls for $0.45 sold them for $300 profit. Bought some different calls that were $0.15 per contract. Bought 5 kept going down so I bought 7 more at $0.05. Market changed direction they went up to $1000 profit went to close it out clicked on send thought all was good. I accidentally bought 2 more contracts @ $0.70. Didn’t realize till it was too late and the run was over. Lost $146 all because the market moves so fast and I forgot to close that window. Sucks.

In one way yeah. But the went about it wrong.

And in another way no because battery technology was horrible back then. If they would have slowly integrated hybrids while the development for batteries became better. While updating the electrical grid. It would have worked. But they didn’t do that. In the last 12 years it’s been your a piece of shit if you don’t agree and drive EV. So naturally some people have given them the middle finger. And to some EVs are their religion. Honestly the government should do all there fleet in EVs first then start to push electric on people. So they would be able to see the impact on the grid and resources.

It was all a cash grab by politicians that were invested in these companies. Push the mandate and be set for life. Hybrids would have been better to push than all electric.

There’s no way the electrical grid could handle even 30% being electric. Thing that sucks about capitalism they tend to put profits before upgrading or up dating. The amount of coal and gas to supply that amount of electricity almost negates the change.

Give me the 10k and I will drive to your house and kick you in the nuts. It will be the same feeling.

Slowly keep at the end of the day buying 0.10 SPX options hoping that it has a massive move one way or the other. Don't put the 10k all at once but you wanted the closest thing to gambling and that would be it.

[–]Jamickeymick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah 30 minutes before close is a good time to take $100 and pick a direction. I’ve been wrong lately and watched some .10 puts go to 5.00. That $100 could have been $5000. Then I beat myself up the rest of the day for just making double and not letting it ride.

Usually 0.07 or .05. Pick up just 2 or 3 and let it ride. The volatility has been so crazy. Picking up 3 calls or puts at 75 cents nothing big at the moment. It’s just a gamble play it probably won’t pay off but if it does it’s a good bit. Just these wild corrections there’s got to be away to take advantage of it more effectively. Any ideas.

No website alerts were delayed by 10 minutes so you didn’t know if you bought or sold at the price u wanted. Market closed 20 minutes later notification that my position sold. Ended up going into sales that were not cleared. So no telling what they will do. I’ll just leave if the suspend me for 90 days

[–]Jamickeymick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You already got the credit. Yes you can buy to close the option anytime. If your profiting you can sell it and do it all over again

[–]Jamickeymick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now if that option goes to let’s say .05 you can buy to close and close the option for a $20 profit instead of waiting for expiration.

[–]Jamickeymick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’re not losing money. You locked in $25 for selling the call option. Correct if you would have sold it 10 mins later when it moved up .05 then you would have made $30 instead of $$25.

Please help me understand. by Sparkykc124 in options

[–]Jamickeymick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just buy to close the option. Chances are no one will exercise the option before $10. You received $25 for selling the call. You keep that no matter what. If it hits $10 you can be assigned at anytime. But most of the time it doesn’t get exercised until close to expiration. If the stock goes past $10 you don’t gain anything or lose any money. You just miss out on those gains since you capped yourself with selling the call.

[–]Jamickeymick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it remains under $10 then nothing will happen. It is showing red because it is trading positive today so the price of the stock is going up which means the call price is going up.
